I am currently playing Dragon's Dogma for the first time since I got the news that it was re-released on PS4. I tried to download the game and played. The gameplay is totally awesome. But in the middle of my game, as I ventured in Grand Soren, I decided to grind through battling the wandering mages and eventually I was kinda upset since the wizards are too powerful. No matter how I hit them, their HP did decrease but my attacks are not really totally hurting them. I even escape but I was still caught by their long-range attacks and died instantly and even my Pawns who are level 13, did not make it from the pack of mages. Is it just me or the game is just really hard? what is the best way to level grind and earn gold?so that I can buy powerful armors and weapons. Your suggestion would be appreciated.

Get better pawns. You can use peoples pawns for free if they're on your friends list. Go to the rift and start spamming people with good pawns friend requests. Send a message along with the friend request that you'd like to use their pawn. Don't get pawns that are too powerful or the game will be to easy. When I played through I only had one powerful pawn the rest were weak. People like to loan out pawns they get rewards for it.

@jdc6305: thank you. This really helps. Pawn sharing must be the way to get the other friends pawns, right? I might as well grind the animals outside. They say I can trade/sell the meat to exchange for gold for a huge price.

@john_coronado: When you level up depending on what Vocation/ Class you are, the game will only increase certain stats. Being weak to Wizards is the result of low Magic defence. If you want to be able to tank magic damage and elements? Either get rings that help in that area, armor that does the same, or pump some levels into Sorcerer or Magick Archer (best for Magic Defence levelling). I would think ten levels in either would do the job throughout your playtime.

I don't want to discredit jdc6305 but having better Pawns won't do anything for the issue you're having. Especially if you don't think of something before you advance to the tougher areas in the game. Pawns are mostly distractions that have a small window to be helpful. Yet, nothing you should rely on to carry you through the game. And if you end up with an Assassin build, you're very unlikely to even use your own pawn as the game progresses, let alone others.

I thought the game really rather easy, once you spent some time grinding. Of course, getting better pawns after level ups is essential.

Given the opponents, best pawn set up is two mages and archer. If your own character is tank, he can soak up damage while your ranged attack pawns keep whittling the enemies down. That approach never failed, even against bosses.

Yea, opening gives the player a pounding, but 20 hours in you'll be stomping stuff.

It's not that difficult really but it is confusing if you don't remember whats the next objective.

Thanks guys. I am level 43 at the moment and currently having a blast throughout the Gransys with my highly intelligent Pawns. Though the game is pretty long and you're easily get lost while doing 5 quests at the same time, you'll never get bored. World's pretty huge as well almost similar to Skyrim.

@RSM-HQ: I shifted my vocation to Mystic Knight. I guess this vocation is the most versatile and strongest of all classes. I also wanted to try Magick Archer though.

Well strongest class is up for debate, usually I find many consider the Assassin and Ranger the most OP. The Mystic Knight is very good and defence focused enough to tank hits the other vocations simply can't.

@RSM-HQ: Yup, but I find it more advantageous when you want to focus on melee and long-range attacks, it's recommendable esp. if you're already in level 50.

@turks: Good choice. I also started as a mage in the early quests. But the mage can be sometimes bothering in terms of defense and when facing faster enemies since the mage has a bit long of casting magic esp. if you get high damaging skills, it takes 5-8 seconds of enchanting before they release the skill. Though it has a good area of damage, it's actually a great class if you're planning to attack enemies in wide range simultaneously and sometimes their magic is uber2x OP. Base on my experience, when I reach level 40+, I did face a lot of stronger, faster enemies which I find it difficult sometimes esp. when you're in a dungeon, the areas are just so enclosed which is sometimes a bit of a disadvantage. Yes, other pawns might attack the stronger ones, but there's just a lot of enemies going frenzy towards you and sometimes Pawns will unable to protect you because they're busy fighting the other mobs. So actually it depends on your strategy, if your pawns are too high level, then that would be no problem but make it sure not to hire overpowered pawns since this will make the game too easy. I suggest you only hire 1 high leveled pawn to balance the difficulty of the game and that it would also give you a satisfying experience in killing the enemies.

In terms of shifting class/vocation, you might as well consider Mystic Knight and Magick Archer when you reach level 50+ since enemies at that level are way too powerful esp. if you come to face a bunch of dragons. If you want to retain the sorcerer, you can actually change your main pawn as the mage and build her/him to be the mage that you want. Have fun!

@john_coronado: My favorite vocation is Warrior, so I have nothing against your preference. Also very about the up close and personal.

However I do stack on Assassin levelling because it gives the highest physical damage multiplier.
