So is it? by monumental is it something as a gamer that i SHOULD experience?
For me monumental games are; ES:Oblivion, halo 2, bioshock, mass effect series, metal gear series, ocarina of time, gears of war 1, etc.

Some people might come to troll/bash topics like this one ( ' is X game amazing ' ), but the truth is yes, especially if you liked Oblivion. It's a great game: the atmosphere, the exploration, the graphics ( at least for its time, were great ) -- there's more to the Wasteland than meets the eye.
It's one of the best, though I wouldn't necessarily use the same word to describe it.
yeah, if you like Oblivion then you'll like Fallout 3, I recommend it over New Vegaslamprey263
Would take a 180 degree turn on that one. Outside of the bugs present at lanch, New Vegas as a massive improvement in every way over Fallout 3, which, to me, felt forced, overdone, and shallow in every way possible.
Monumental? I don't know. It has a place for sure, but the 100/100 I saw coming from reviews were drastically bloated, and left little room for really constructive criticism about how good or not the game really was.
Bad? By no means, but in my humble opinion Bethesda has produced a lot better games, both before and after.
If you have never played a Fallout game then 3 would be a good place to start if you have no interest in going back and playing the originals. It is the weakest entry of all the main Fallout games though.smerlusIt is not. It's quite better than the other first two.
Bethesda acquiring the Fallout franchise was one of the best things that could have happened to it.

don't get me wrong, I'm glad they aquired it and we were able to get more games but there are reasons Fallout 1 and 2 are seen as some of the best RPG's and Fallout 3 destroyed most of them. From terrible dialogue to butchering of the history of some of the creatures/factions to simplifying the role playing aspects. personally, i felt fallout 1 and 2 had outdated game mechanics or at least not easy enough for new people to get into[QUOTE="SkyWard20"]It is not. Playing Fallout 3 10 years from now will probably have people saying the game is ugly, the cinematics suck and the AI is terrible.
Fallout 3 summed up what I was looking for in an RPG. An amazing setting, excellent characters, and one of the best stories I've ever seen in a game. I thought the ES: Oblivion quest was far inferior to other aspects of the game such as the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. In Fallout 3 the main quest is touching, heartfelt, and one of the more down to earth stories I have yet to see in a game.My only complaint about it is that in the begininng of the game, when your skills are low, it is ridiculous to see a target take five or six .32 rounds to the head and survive to attack you. And thats on normal. Oh and the voices are like Oblivions, as many people sound the same.
There are plenty of Momuments in Fallout 3 The Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Momment to name just 2... wait what

I agree, after the bugs were patched New Vegas was way better than Fallout 3 imo.[QUOTE="Allicrombie"]oblivion wasnt monumental, morrowind was.Dracula68
I have to agree there. I put easily over 100 hours into Morrowind but only played till I got out of the sewer in Oblivion.
You played 1% of Oblivion and you made your decision? Kinda unfair don't you think.Everyone has their different monumental experiences. Depending on what their into, you should play it and find out yourself. So is it? by monumental is it something as a gamer that i SHOULD experience?

Yes, it was just amazing, the Wasteland is amazing, the quests are amazing, the game is 80 hours of pure addictive brilliance.
I can't really describe fallout 3
that atmosphere, the music, the story.
it felt real.
that's the only way i can describe it.
