I know it's on PS2 but I wanna know..infamous_27What does the console have to do with story? Any yes. Not my favourite Final Fantasy story to be honest, but it is engaging. Overall a great game.
Yeah. One of the key characters (Yuna) has some terrible voiceovers, but you get used to it after a while (well...maybe not).
There's also an extremely touching scene in the first third of the game where Tidus gets Yuna to loosen up and laugh. That laughter scene is one of the most beautiful moments I've ever seen in a videogame - brought tears to my eyes, and caused my ears to bleed a little too.
Issues aside (Yuna, laughter scene, ridiculously effeminite antagonist) the story is quite enjoyable and most of the characters. I don't think Tidus is as whiny as everyone else seems to...he's also voiced by the same dude who does Ratchet.

DJ_Lae
Who also does the voice of Johnny Test.
First FF I played and it has never been the same.
Love Auron's story the best and overall an excellent story that was extremely touching
Yeah I really liked it, some impressive graphics in that game too, I really liked watching the summons.
Battle music never gets tiring (which is rare in RPGs for me), in fact I have it on my MP3 player.Â
As long as you don't know who Meg Ryan is... (what is up with Square and their ps2 releases? FF 12's Vaan had the same "problem")
But yeah it's a nice story, and the battle system is one of the game's highlights, very top notch. I say you get it, I played it for the first time 2 months ago and found it to be really great. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as well.
Allow me to be the dissenting opinion here. I thought the story, along with everything else was horrible in FFX. I'd say it was one of the worst in the series. In fact the game represents everything bad thing in the jRPG genre. Super linear gameplay. Virtually every character was an RPG cliche. The over-enthusiastic male lead, the frail heroine who shows her inner strength, the dark brooding warrior with a secret, and the ice cold sorceress. Yes they're all there! And as a bonus you get Wakka. . . the single worst character in any game in the entire history of videogames.
As far as the story... well it's the same Final Fantasy standard - the ragtag group of heroes get together to defeat a terrible empire/force from destroying the world and stumble across an even greater evil in the process. Slightly different take on it this time, but nothing that impressed me.
I know it's on PS2 but I wanna know..infamous_27No, honestly the FFX story is not good. It's average. But what the game did well is it presented the story well. There are a lot of attention to minor details and characters, and with nice presentation it creates many special moments. The main plot is weak, but FFX manages to cover that up by interesting characters, the relationships between characters, presentations, and details.
