[QUOTE="Nes705"]It's the only 10 I've ever seen, but I'm not surerockguy92
Ocarina of Time and Soul Calibur.
I assumed those didn't count because they got a 9 in some catagories.... whereas GTA4 got a 10 in every catagory, which I thought was the point of this thread.
The fact that GTA4 got 10 on all counts is pretty pissweak, IMO. The story can't possibly be the equal of Bioshock's, and the graphics aren't anything to write home about.The_Frederick
Apparently, the people actually playing the game before drawing conclusions about it disagree.

Are these the same people who thought Halo 3 was some sort of gaming revolution?

How can it be perfect in that area when they admit it isn't? :?

I don't have hands on time with Halo 3, so I cannot speak on it's quality. I don't much care for Halo as a whole. Thing is, that doesn't mean I feel the need to go out of my way to put it down, I simply don't partake in Halo discussions. But the word from reviewers and gamers alike was that it was a hella fun time to be had for the fans of the series, and it that online versus and four player co-op were really great. But I can't confirm or deny that, People are welcome to have their opinions.

It wasn't just "technical issues". There are screens of GTA4 that look worse than Doom 3 or Half-Life 2. I just can't fathom how it got a 10 for graphics.

Bad screen shots exist for every game, no matter how good it may actually look. DMC4 screens made me think it was an aborted PS2 title, yet the game I play in my PS3 every day is a very visually satisfying one.

It's not just some, it's several. And it's not like on PC, where you can say "It was a low-end machine!".

Having seen the game in action already, I can safely say it's better than it's screen shots. When I mentioned DMC4 screens by the way, it was also several, moreso in fact. Turned out great.

LOL. I have to agree with The_Frederick. GTA4's graphics are good but not incredible, and certainly not deserving of a ten.
Can we say biased?

For the graphics, I think Gametrailers said it best :
"It's not really fair to hold a free roaming game like GTA to the same visual standards you'd expect from a shooter that runs on a pre-determined path. With such a vast enviroment coupled with the ability to do anything at anytime, some concessions have to be made. Not many have been made here. GTA 4 is one fine looking game."
For an open world game, GTA 4 still looks better than many linear games of this generation.
Now for the story, you can't really say anything about it unless you check it out yourself.
[QUOTE="EnigManic"]Can we say biased?Iszk
Biased for what? Not having the same completely subjective opinion as you?
Biased as in - notice how many other posters here agree that it didn't deserve a 10. But I think it's clear that some magazines like to give unfair ratings to big-name franchises with large fan bases just for those reasons.

A few people on an internet forum not agreeing with a websites subjective component score on a game does not prove bias on the part of the website in question.

Then what does? If the game received a ten for graphics, when it clearly does not demonstrate the quality of graphics the current consoles are capable of delivering, I think it's obvious.

Thats your opinion, their is nothing "clear" or factual about your judgement. Taking into account the huge and wide open sandbox world GTA4 represents, it is a stunning achievement, and is better looking taking all things into consideration than any other game of that type on any current gen console. In the view of IGN and other sites, that warrants praise, it does not in your view. Neither of you are bias, you just have different standards and opinions.
I understand what you're saying, but I still believe that GTA4 doesn't deserve a ten. I've seen open-ended games with better graphics. for example, look at SR2.EnigManic
Saints Row 2 isn't available at retail, and for all we know, could be plagued with frame rate issues and pop up upon release. Right now, GTA4 is the best looking game of it's kind on the market, and of all past GTA games, has made the least sacrificies in performance to create it's large and heavily populated game world. Thats pretty admirable, I think.

Are you serious here Enigmanic? you are stripping away GTA 4's 10 rating just because its not eye-candy to you? imo, i think GTA IV is among the best looking on next gen taking in account the size and scope of the playing world, but thats only from trailers and screenshots, but its not gears of war quality, but it sure is close. Although i dont find Saints Row 2 appealing as GTA 4, your opinions are clearly made by your standards not by anyone else, and also both games havent been released yet so you cant downgrade gta4 and compare them, I believe, as a gamer, that gta 4 is gonna be 10 and deserves being a 10 no matter what you say against it, Saints Row may show some signs of greatness, but GTA 4 is in a whole different leauge, GTA is expanding the genre and the gaming industry as a whole, while SR2 is focused on more conventional elements. and in the end, you can't base your opnions entirely on a games graphics, its been tested and proven that the gameplay is where the meat is, i can see what your saying if GTA 4 was ugly, but we all seen what it looks like and i cant agree, but does it really matter if you dont think gta 4 is a 10, we are all going to still play it, regardless of your negative emotions.

You made a few good points which I will concede on, but how exactly is GTA4 expanding the genre when SR2 offers more features then any other title in this genre?
I keep reading postings on this site from GTA fans who praise the fourth installment as being so great. Some have referred to SR2 as nothing more than a GTA clone. I think those sentiments are both biased and closed-minded.
When you compare graphics and sound, gameplay, features and options, and the developers' attempts at originality, there are many who agree with me that SR2 has much more to offer.
GTA4 may or may not deserve a 10 for graphics, but I feel that it is simply another excuse to over-hype this game, while ignoring the glaring potential of SR2. It has potential to be a much better game, but all everyone wants to talk about is GTA4.
Who cares, really?Kev_BoyAgreed It will be the best game this generation, hands down. Anyone who says different is wrong.
Metal Gear Solid Ghost Babel for the GBC got a 10 on IGN. So did:
LOZ: Oracle Of Time for GBC
LOZ: Oracle Of Seasons for GBC
Mario Golf for GBC
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for GBC
LOZ: Link's Awakening for GBC
LOZ: Ocarina Of Time for N64
Soul Calibur for Dreamcast
Thats all I know, their's probably more though
