Is Halo:Combat Evolved Still Fun To Play IYO?

We all know back in 2001 this game was the bomb. It went head to head with the greatest PC shooters at the time which was no small feat for a console game. However I do feel this game is beyond outdated now. The gunplay no longer feels satisfying, the graphics are unbearingly stale, the level design is generic and extremely plain. Honestly I do not think I can ever enjoy this game again. In my opinion, it has aged worse than Doom!

Hoedw do you all feel about this game? Has it aged well? Is it still fun to play?

The SP is still fun, but the MP still beats a lot of recently released games.

Only the graphics feel dated. The gameplay itself is still great.

Was this meant as an insult? Doom has aged incredibly well and is just as enjoyable to play today as it was when released. I have trouble thinking of a game as old as Doom that even begins to hold its quality over the years. I find CE to also be just as fun as when it came out. The gunplay IMO still beats many FPSes out today.

I started playing it again recently and IMHO the graphics feel very dated. However it is still a blast to play!

This. Doom still gets custom wads from mappers, and it still has quite the online community. And it's been 17 years.

Back on topic, I'll say yeah, the SP is still fun.

Yeah, I think so. Despite the copy and paste level design, I still find the game to be highly enjoyable. The larger levels like "Assault on the Control Tower" still have a feel all of their own, and it's always fun to play co-op. Of course, when I play older games, I'm riding a wave of nostalgia time and time again, so it would be much more interesting to hear impressions from people who had got into the game and series later than most others.

Halo:CE is still the only game in the series that doesn't suck...

I agree, i'm playing Doom using a sourceport called Skulltag, in 1080p & using various mods, on the Nightmare difficulty. It hasn't aged one bit, except for the obvious visuals, it's incredibly fun to play, challenging & addicting. Plus i'm playing in the MP portion also, always can find people online. Doom 1&2 are probably the games that have aged the best in the entire gaming industry.

The gameplay is still extremely fun, graphics have obviously aged alot.

I think it's fun if you're playing with friends. I wouldn't say it's too entertaining if you're just playing onling at home. Me and my friends used to play it in class when we were bored and had nothing to do. :P

Why wouldn't it be? It's still the best Halo game to date. The series only got worse IMO.

Meh, the graphics are bland and you go around each corridor killing the same aliens over and over, i got turned off by it and decided the PC had much more to offer. Heck when i only had a Ps2 i thought Killzone was a great game, so if you only had an Xbox i guess ignorance was bliss.X360PS3AMD05

It's fun, but I still prefer the more recent Halo games much more.

A great classic never goes out of style, in the words of a famous slasher villian. Halo is no exception. It is still a blast to play.

I still tend to play it from time to time. It's still fun.
