The game has it written all over it, probably a collectors game eventually. Really a shame as it looks really innovative and amazing.

It could I hope so. I want Heavy Rain to prove that Adventure games are more relevant than people think.
It depends on the quality of the writing. If it is actually real good and better than Indigo Prophecy, then I wouldn't be surprised if it sold a million. If it only has a strong start and gets terrible like Indigo Prophecy, it will still have those fans who totally dig it, but I don't think it will get mainstream success.
It's an adventure game. Adventure games were only ever big on the PC where just about everyone is a hardcore gamer, and even then the genre just about died in the late 90's. So yeah, this game is going to be a cult hit. It'll sell well enough, but it's not going to be a smash hit blockbuster.

Agreed. Hopefully Cage won't screw this one up.
I think if done right this game will reinvigorate a long forgotten genre. This type of game has been too long in coming, and I wish it all the success so we see more of the same.
Nahhh. Its getting some attention from even non gamers because of its story and characters. Which is good because im tired of people thinking Call of Duty when they think of the term Video Game. Either way i just pre orderd it today and it is currently my most anticipated game (maybe even more than Jak II back a couple years ago). Only 15 more days till it comes out too!!!
I hear people in real life talking about it (and my friends aren't even gamers). It has potential to be big.KHAndAnimeSame, only my friends are jelous 360 gamers lol !!
i havent seen any advertisements. to be a blockbuster hit, you usually need part of the gaming crowd that doesnt scour the internet for previews. LoG-Sacrament
This. The way Sony markets their exclusives, this game is bound to become a cult cIassic.
those are cult hits thoughI loved Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy If it's anything like that Then it's sure to be awesome.

The problem, at least for me, is that Ilike to actually play mygames and Indigo Prophecy featured some very poor mechanics. I'm actually curious to play the demo of Heavy Rain but I keep reading that it's just like Indigo Prophecy, which concerns me.
I actually think this game could go either way. It could be a flop or it could sell very well. The biggest problem at this point is how many high profile games are cominig out during the next few months, including another killer PS3 exclusive GOWIII.
[QUOTE="mightyquinn91"]Could be really big or could make a lot of people disappointed... the bigger the hype, the harder they fall or rise-ICON-its usually just, the bigger the hype the harder they fall. Take Modern Warfare 2 for example. Right, because Modern Warfare 2 sold poorly.
Well I for one will be giving this game a miss. I watched a game play video and it wasn't very impressive; I use the term game play very loosely it was just a quick time event and some dialogue.
Like Bladerunner? Probably, if it turns out to be a mediocre game that gets a cult following for being extremely mediocre. Given Fahrenheit, I wouldn't put it past Heavy Rain.
Definately cult classic material. I'd be very surprised if it sold more than 1 mill worldwide.
Ditto for Alan Wake, these games just don't have mass appeal however innovative or well made.
I just know that coming out so early in the year it'll get overlooked.chadwick1343What does that really have to do with anything?
