Is it alright to skip Devil May Cry 2

I have heard Devil May Cry 2 was one of the biggest letdowns of the last decade after the first game. I also know Devil May Cry 3 got the series back on track and I also own number 4 on PS3. I own the first and 4th one but not number 2 or 3 which is what I plan to get. Please tell me it is alright to skip DMC2.

It is part of canon, however if you really don't want to play it you could always just read what happens online and skip to the 3rd. Honestly I think you should play the it though. It is the worst dmc game, but it's stil a really solid action game and the story isn't as bad as some make it out to be, at least imo.

People act like it is the worst game ever, it was not. Dante's voice acting is emotionless and stupid but the game itself is a good game in its own right, it's when you compare it to the other games that people say it is bad.

I never played it. I played the first and the third, and considering the third is a prequel I never felt like I was missing out with the 2nd. My brother-in-law bought 1 & 3 for me and told me the 2nd was bad. I didn't purposefully avoid it, I just probably wouldn't have got into the series at all had he not bought them for me.

It was actually my favorite, I think the gameplay was incredible with all the stunts and moves.

From what I've heard, it's a good game, but definitely a low point for the series (which isn't necessarily all that bad, because the series is awesome). If you haven't played 3, though, get on that. Now. NOW!

Good game but it felt a little derivative compared to the first. The difficulty was also toned down considerably compared to the first game, if you play the third game then go back to two, it becomes a total cake walk. You can finish the game without evening trying.

You won't be missing anything. The DMC games don't have much of a story but the story in DMC 2 is just utterly terrible. It is so stupid that it's on par with Gigli and you know that's never a good thing.

If you can bear the stupid story, then what you'll get is a basic hack and slash game. Dante is seriously overpowered. Just jumping and shooting works almost every single time.

Devil May Cry 2 was good but not that great.
