It seems Gamestop barely gives you anything, but what about pawn shops.

Pawn shops don't give you anything either.

the answer is ebay. not only can you sell your used games for a ton more than gamestop (ive never pawned games though other poster says you get crap there too), anyhow, you can get more money but you can also find some really good deals on there too if youre looking to buy a game.

you're better off using ebay or a game trading service like playswitch

Yep. Unless you need the money NOW, you're almost always better off avoiding places like pawn shops or retail stores.

Because there's one thing ensuring that they're gonna rip you off, and that's this. They aren't buying it to KEEP it, they are buying it to SELL it and make a profit. As a result, you're gonna have to sell it to them for well under market value. What you're doing is sort of like dealing with a middleman, who needs a cut of the money. He may even need MORE of a cut of the money than you, because he's gotta deal with storage space, shelf space, and the fact that he's gotta sell the item quickly before its value goes down even more.

Bottom line is that if you are selling ANYTHING, and have the time and space to store the item until you find a collector, then you avoid the middleman. You're better off holding on to it, then looking around for a while until you find a buyer who's planning on KEEPING it. Buyers who plan on KEEPING stuff will almost ALWAYS pay more than someone who's planning on turning around and selling it.

I think this is about the best explanation you're going to get, TC.

If their old, just keep em'. You won't get hardly anything for them at either place.

There's always a collector looking to pay big bucks for something old ;)

That said, pawn shops' general rule of thumb is buy at 25%, resell at 50%. You'll be lucky to get $15 out of a brand new game. You're far better off selling it on ebay or craigslist, or finding a friend or someone you know who wants to buy it.

Anything that involves a middle man is going to rip you off. Selling items yourself on Ebay or craiglist is the way to go. Game shops are the lazy way, but you pay for it.

your best bet is to sell them either on ebay or sell them on craigslist or something. You can get a ton more cash from people rather then $5 for a year old game at a retail store.
