It depends entirely on what kind of games you like.
For me, the Wii has enough to keep me busy this generation, but for others it just wouldn't be worth the purchase. If you don't like Mario games, for example, or if FPS is your favourite genre, the Wii is unlikely to keep you entertained for long.
But, if you are into the Nintendo franchises, like a more unconventional approach to sports and racing games, and are interested in exploring Nintendo's past with the Virtual Console, the Wii is for you.
I'm pretty sure this belongs somewhere else, but to answer your question, it depends on what kind of gaming you want. If you don't mind playing these over and over:
Then I guess its worth it. But if you're looking for games like:
Then Xbox or PS3 is the way to go.
Its worth it if you like nintendo kind of games but I think its best to own a Gaming PC, PS3 , or Xbox 360 first though so you dont miss out on to many games.
Only you can answer that. If you don't like Nintendo franchises, then no ninty console since the SNES has been worth it. If you like Nintendo franchises, the Wii is shaping up to be one of the best Ninty systems in terms of number and quality of Nintendo franchises on the system.

You gotta love how he says if you "if you don't mind playing these over and over" for the Wii games then list 3 Wii games in totally different genres. For 360 and PS3 he shows a wide variety of by listing 3 shooters. I'd refer to that as playing the same thing over and over again before I'd put a racing game, a fighting game and a puzzle game together and say you're getting the same experience over and over.
