I actually like it a lot. But I guess it's because I'm a art and sci-fi buff who digs this kind of stuff, y` know, the space marines fighting a bunch of evil baddies, etc.

I think the art direction in Killzone is amazing for a PS2 game. A lot of people had issues with the gameplay in itself, plus was irritated by some framerate issues. But I think it's a great FPS and probably one of the best one on the PS2...the PS2 didn't have many, so if the PS2 is all you have, than you can't go wrong with it.

Gameplay-wise, it may let you down...but I like it and recommend it. But if you're spoiled by Half-Life 2, Far Cry, or even Halo...play Killzone witha open mind and know that it's a different kind of FPS.

But if you like FPSs, you can't go wrong with Killzone.

I'm assuming you're talking about the first one; in which case the answer is no it sucks. Killzone 2 may be a good game (anythings possible) but the first is horrible.

It doesn't suck. But like I said, if you're spoiled by Halo, Half-Life 2, or Far Cry, you might be disappointed because Killzone has drastically different gameplay.

It's definitely not a bad shooter. I still think it's great and there are people out there who agree with me on this one.

I think you should give it a try and see for yourself. Buy it used or rent it, and if you hate it, just return it.

See, that's the problem though. No game exists in a vacuum where it doesn't have to compete against similar games. It might be fun if no other game like it existed, but when you could go around and get Timesplitters or Red Faction on PS2, it sucks in comparison. You could even get better games on your PC, which I assume you have one since you're on this site, such as Half-Life or Call of Duty.

Killzone isn't THAT bad though. It's just a very, very bland game that happens to look very cool. Looks like they got the graphics nailed again, now all they have to do with Killzone 2 is make it as much fun to play as it is to watch.

Killzone, IMO, was a rare case where the atmosphere and visuals of the game engrossed me more than the gameplay. I think I can say the same for Doom 3. As a art buff, this is enough for me to enjoy a game. Luckily, the gameplay isn't too horrible. I've played worse...with bad graphics to go along with it *cough* Advent Rising* cough*!

There are shooters where the gameplay was extrememly fun regardless of graphics. So I guess Killzone's appeal was the look of the game. Yes, people may say, "yeah but visuals can only take you so far," which I agree with that statement. But I liked Killzone, so it didn't matter to me.

It´s ok for a PS2 game.I stopped playing it sometime ago (stuck at a jungle-swamp level) but until the it was technically medicore but not bad.If you got no XBox (which has better FPS) it´s woth a try.

I never messed around with online play on the PS2, but the campaign of Killzone 1 was garbage (I love Jin-Roh as much as the next guy, but for me games live or die on the basis of their gameplay/game design) but Killzone Liberation (which isn't an fps) is a short but quality game.

EDIT: If you are looking for aquality PS1 fps, Red Faction is a great choice.
