All I'll tell you, it's just a game! :P He'd have to wear the helmet all the time though, and everyone likes to see him wearing his red cap, not an astronaut helmet. Mario games have never been realistic, anyway. But yes, to answer your question, he IS human, just a fat short plumber.digi_matrix
I agree with you~!it's just a game!not so serious!
Mario isn't a human. He's a plumber.GiygasFanima
That makes no sense  Are plumbers their own species?!
I just started wondering about this. In the Super Mario Galaxy videos, he doesn't need a helmet to protect him from the oxygen (or whatever u call it) in space. Yet in SM 64 and Sunshine, he loses energy from being in water for too long.action1234
I think it's pretty obvious. He has space lungs.
No, he isn't.
If he can bust open a blue box and grab the invisible hat that turns him invincible, I don't think so.
If he can bust open a green box, grab the metallic hat that was in it, and turn into metal, I don't think so.
If he uses a hat to fly, I don't think so.
There is no way that Mario is human, because he can do unreal things.
Mario is better than a human, he is the god of action game characters.
If it walks like a human, talks like a human, looks like a human, then it probably is a human.
BladesOfAthena
..or a plumber.
