Is SMG worth it if you're not that bothered about Mario?

I'm trying to pressure my sister into buying it for her Wii, because I don't want to spend money on anything other than the PS3, but we're not that bothered about Mario - I've finished Super Mario Bros DS, Super Paper Mario and I don't know that another Mario game will be worth my money anymore. Please answer?

Bothered? Interesting choice of words.

I haven't played it but the word is that its a must have game for the Wii.

The review says that this could be a game with characters from any other game universe and it would still be excellent. So it doesn't seem like you need to be a Mario fan to enjoy it.

Absolutely. From what I've heard, this is a great game for anyone, regardless of whether or not you're a Mario fan.

If you care about platformers in general, this is a must-have.

I am not a fan of platforming, so I did not particularly see anything engaging about the game in the first 30 minutes I played it.

It appears to be very creative and inventive, but it basically it comes down to jumping, running and collecting, which for me doesn't do it.

Argh, conflicting responses!!! When I said not a Mario fan, I sort of meant, not too much of a fan of platformers in general, so the question still stands...

Get it anyway. Just because you're not a fan of platformers in general doesn't mean you won't like this one.

Mario Galaxy is a good game, not simply a good Mario game. That should be your answer.

Is anyone really "bothered" about Mario? I think you'll find that these Mario games aren't good because Mario is the leading role, it derives from the fact that Nintendo put alot of effort into his main games, so they always turn out to be great.
