Could it be bad for the system (i.e. Wii, PS3, Xbox,DS, etc.) if it stays in sunlight? Not only in terms of the heat... and also for things like getting sunlight on the screens of a handheld like the DS os PSP, could that affect the system in any way?

It would probably affect the colour of the system as well, you know, like when you leave something red out in the sun for ages, and it eventually becomes pink.

heat is bad for anything electronic. Think of anything electronic as a Universal Soldier (yes, a jean claude van damm reference). Sunlight is not just heat, but heat radiation. just always good to be aware of that. Sunlight wont directly do any damage, is more of a time factor, like if you leave your stuff in the sun for extended periods. Plus, you cant see your handheld's screens that well in direct sunlight anyways. as a matter of fact, I cannot think of any reason to have your electronics in direct sunlight unless your playing those GBA games baktai that use solar power in the games. WORLD PWNAGE.

yes it could also cause damage to electronics if u leav'em directly to sunlight because of uv radiation...but if ur indoors, it's ok since most windows block uv radiation

Short version: The sunlight carries the heat. It's one in the same, basically.

To answer your question, it has not ever happened to me. I mean, I didn't test it out by leaving my old PSP or Gameboys "out to dry" or anything.
