I'd say if its a complete set the tripod an everything, then yes. Not really for any fun value other than the novelty, but because I believe they are worth more than that now, and will continue to increase in price, but only if you have a complete set. It seems a lot of tripods are missing. I've often thought about buying one myself, its the only Nintendo system I don't own (discounting iterations of the same system e.g. GBA, GBA SP)
I actually liked the virtual boy. I got it real cheap in the midst of its collapse (this was way back). There were barely any games so I had to order them off the internet.
The best games: Wario Land, Tennis, Teleroboxer (teleroboxer is extremely great)
Decent: that mario bros pipe game.
OMG dismal/ hurts your eyes: Red Alarm. I can't understand what's going on. Golf. The textures buzz constantly and are just a grid of many lines.
watch the AVGN review of the system. It's really great. I completely agree with AVGN in that a virtual reality system should have games in first person. A huge oversight imo. Teleroboxer is the only one. Nintendo should have their next system combine VR with motion sensing to really freak me out

It's closer to 8. And no, don't buy it unless you just want to be able to say that you own one. There's A good game, but it's insanely rare and not anywhere near worth the price. It's only good by comparison though, and not good in normal terms.
i wouldn't be so sure. The wiimote is kind of a resurrection of the power glove. It wasn't technically made by nintendo but nintendo still embraced it and helped it along. Works on differnt kind of tech but the principal is the same. The power glove's button layout looks almost exactly like the wiimote. Another example is how the DS's design is kind of like the game and watch. Now that motion sensing will be standard with the other console companies nintendo will be looking for a new edge and VR would be even bigger than motion sensing I think. Nintendo must have a lot of useful copyrights in VR as a result of the VBNow that LEDs are so cheap I would think Nintendo could make a Virtual Boy in full color that could really wow us. But they probably won't touch a Virtual Reality concept with a 10 ft pole again.

I think it's a fun console. I picked one up around '03 or '04 for $20-30 off of ebay, with three games. Now it is just sitting collecting dust. I should go get it.
If you are a collector then I suggest getting one while you have the chance but you probably will not be playing it much if not at all.

You could be right, and I think the technology has progressed to a point now where a VB2 could do well in the marketplace.
Stay far away dude. Most of the games are horrible, with the exception of Wario Land. Just a bad system. Plus headaches abound.
I'd say go for it. Not only is the VB a completely unique console and a great addition to any collection, but it has a handful of games that are quite fun and reasonably priced. As for the issue with headaches, I geuss some people get them, but me and my brother never experienced any problems, so I geuss its different for every person.
They're also a little difficult to work with if you wear glasses. It's doable but it sure isn't comfortable! I bought one a long time ago and have collected most of the decent games though I was never able to get Mansion of Innsmouth (JP). Like most 'portable' systems it has no regional detection and rare titles like Jack Bros can sometimes be cheaper to import. Amusingly the Japanese and North American Tetris games are totally different- the US has a very unique 3D title with a controllable camera that is somewhat similar to Tetrisphere in a well while the Japanese edition was straight Tetris with minimal flash and creepy little elves. For the price I would want at least one rarer game or at least two commons. The best (if not only) accessory is the AC adapter. The VB had decent life with modern batteries but running out of power in the middle of a game isn't fun. Most games try to make shorter sessions feasible with frequent save points or passwords. The VB is an interesting piece of technology and is fairly unique. Its library is exceptionally limited, though, and the best titles can command a hefty price tag. There are certainly better things you could buy but you can do worse. Not unless you like headaches

this pretty much sums it up. DONT waste more than $20 on one with games. spending the money on good legacy games is a better idea.

Its worth getting as a collectors item if the price is right. If you intend on using it, you have to factor in the additional cost of chiropractic visits, headache medication and the possible need for lasic eye surgery later in life.
XD I agree. I mean, I'm a collector (at least I like to think of myself as one) and I don't even think its worth it and I own a Game & Watch. Its worth getting as a collectors item if the price is right.
