I have a buddy whose kids are down and he has not one videogame system for them to play, so he asked me if I had one he could either borrow, or have? I already have a Wii and was just wondering, if the Wii could play all the Cube games with no issues? So far I've play Resident Evil 0,Metroid Prime, and Super Mario Sunshine on it with no issues. I just didn't want to give it to him if it would render my Gamecube games useless. Thoughts..

The Wii plays all GC games perfectly as far as I know, but it's not compatible with the Game Boy Player. It's up to you.

Yeah, I have the Game Boy player adapter hooked to the bottom of my Gamecube, which I decided to give him that also, seeing as how I don't play any Gameboy Advance games, my kids did when they were younger, but now they are spoiled with these 360/PS3 graphics.:)

If you have a Wii, then a Gamecube is still worth having for the Gameboy Player Attachment. That's the BEST way to play Game Boy, GBC, and GBA games. It's almost like having another 2D Nintendo console.

Honestly, unless your worried about the Gameboy Player and the underutilized Broadband Adapter, a Wii will more than suffice.

Sounds like you won't be needing the GC again and its a really nice gesture :) plus your friends kids will be playing some top quality titles.

I would keep it because of collection purposes. Maybe, pass on to your children, or grand children as part of gaming history. I wouldn't give it to little kids who won't appreciate the technology, and probably destroy it. It needs to be under the supervision of an adult. You will find little value in selling it, and throwing it away is pointless.

Well if you ever accidentally corrup memory cards on Wii, a Gamecube is a nice thing to have. Just be extra careful when inserting and removing memory cards in Wii; if you do either while the Wii is on, you won't be able to use that memory card on Wii.

That handle and its heft makes it a great bludgeoning instrument, the Wii is too light and flimsy to knock out anyone. :P

What he/she said. When the zombie apocalypse comes, I know what my bludgeoning object will be.

Not really. I can't part with the good titles, it looks like he will be getting a Naruto title, Xmen Legends(actually decent), and Batman Rise of Stzu or whatever the name of that title is. Not too bad though, seeing as how they don't have anything to play and I told him he could pick up the cube games very cheap at Gamestop. I even gave him two controllers.:)

True. That is one reason why I didn't want to part with it. I enjoy video games of all generations, and I prefer to play games on the original system they were created on, just seems to hold that retro feel a bit more, but I would've felt bad knowing his kids were going to boycott staying at his house due to his lack of gaming devices!

Also if you play Phantasy Star Online you can't use the online feature of it on the Wii as far as I know. I know the servers are dead, but there are ways around that......

Unless you wanto keep using a gameboy player, there's no need for a GC if you have a wii.

Is there a reason to keep a Gamecube? Not really just give your pal the GameCube. If you have a Wii then you don't need a Gamecube since the Wii contains a GameCube. more or less.

The only reason to keep a GameCube is if your a collector. But that is it.

If your honestly still playing PSO online on the Gamecube then you are really just making life harder for yourself. Just play PSO Blue Burst; you can still play on the same private servers and you get an extra episode that was never released outside of Blue Burst.

You might want to keep your Gamecube if you trade in your Wii towards a Wii U, since the Wii U won't have backwards compatibility with the Gamecube.

You don't need Gamecube unless you want that Gamboy attachment. But I think you still need to have the Gamecube controller.

Yeah, I didn't give him all the controllers. I still have a wireless one and one wired. I also have the classic controller for the Wii.

I have a Wii, butI still hold on to my GameCube simply because my Wii is no longer able to read GameCube memory cards.
