Hello, I'm playing turn based strategies for 15years. I love sid meier's games, expecially Civilization2-3, Alpha Centauri, I played MoO3, Heroes3, Ceasear 3, Disciples2 and many. But i like Imperialism II's consept most. What the points make me love Imp2? You can develop raw material spots over the map, connect them to your transport gird, manage logistics, build units by delivering these resources. Yes you can do them in Civilization but in civ rosources are only food and shield, and having one strategic resource is enough. In imp2 quantitiy of resource is important, if you produce (and transport) 40 food, you can feed 20 workers. This balance of game is good for me. Or if you want to build a good army you need enough food to feed them and produce enough steel or copper to build them. You must increasse your production to be a powerfull empire. Tecnology tree is good, after some developments your production is upgraded, for example you can produce fabric from cotton instead of wool. Or mines can upgrade lvl3 from lvl2 (and need railroad to transsport 3 resources). As a resoult explore, expand, build utilities, develope resources, transporting them, building army, conquer world system is very diffirent from other 4x strategies. I'm searching an other game like Imp2 but still cannot found. Is there any game like it? I also play RTS starcraft, warcraft3, AoE2 etc. But i'm looking for turn based strategy. Don't give rts replies. Thanks.
I would like to know the answer to that question, too, but I'm afraid there is no such game out there :(
But I still like playing Imp2, never gets old, but would like to find some friends to play it online, I guess the feel would be like playing a board game :)
Dear Dude or Dudette, Have you tried Victoria II or Crusader Kings ? They are G Grigsby grognard paced multi-faceted intensely complex (read-steep learning curve), games that keep you totally immersed for many lost hours of strategy. If you want a slightly faster game experience I definately recommend 'Sins Of a Solar Empire'. Regards Dave S.
