The unfortunate thing is that particularly with the depth of VF as a series the AI will never approach the challenge of a skilled human adversary. To actually need many of the advanced moves you need a good human on the other controller. Uberbadassmufuh
Virtua Fighter 5 on the Xbox 360 works well enough online. The only thing is its probably best played with an arcade controller, the Xbox 360 controller D-pad doesn't work completely solid with this game.
I like it, but I do admit, you have to commit to want to get good at this game and pour in hours upon hours of playing time before you can have any fun out of it. Or else, you'd get mutilated online and feel like a complete noob and want to give up on games altogether.
But fighting gameplay wise, it's great! But from a personal taste, I don't like some of the character designs that much.

Well, yet another great thing about VF is that you can change the character designs if you don't like them. :)
