i have heard this series refered to as e best fighting engine that exists.... really? i'm not feeling it... it doesn't seem to be that complex.... i've spent a great deal of time with it though. i own vf4 evo and i gave it a fair chance but i'd take tekken over vf anyday. anyone else feel this way or am i crazy?

Virtua Fighter is the deepest 3D fighting series there is. It's easily my favorite. Virtua Fighter is the deepest, but whether or not it makes it the best is a matter of opinion. If you prefer the dial-a-combo styIe gameplay of Tekken, that's your thing. Both series are great.

The unfortunate thing is that particularly with the depth of VF as a series the AI will never approach the challenge of a skilled human adversary. To actually need many of the advanced moves you need a good human on the other controller.

Virtua Fighter 5 on the Xbox 360 works well enough online. The only thing is its probably best played with an arcade controller, the Xbox 360 controller D-pad doesn't work completely solid with this game.

Its far one of the best, it has deep roots but the flash of moves isn't there like tekken, or dead or alive. But it is strong if u resonate with the praction of martial arts, or fighting stragey. Im not bais or anything and glad the X360 has online for the players but i feel PS3 got screwed in the process of it. I owe both system but i had Xbox live for a bit but had to cut it off because of college related reason (money is scare u feel me that 60 bucks gotta go to internet). Neways one of the main reason i bought a PS3 is for virtua fighter and hopes of online but hey thats life, i gotta wait until i get my fighting fix or when my money is right to get xbox live again. Neways the controls for the 360 version are a bit shotty but none the less it is one of the powerhouse fighters for the console until soul calibur comes out.

That's what I hear.

I do have one question. Are you playing human opposition that's serious about getting better at the game? That's really the only way you see the depth (or lack thereof) of a fighter.

I like it, but I do admit, you have to commit to want to get good at this game and pour in hours upon hours of playing time before you can have any fun out of it. Or else, you'd get mutilated online and feel like a complete noob and want to give up on games altogether.

But fighting gameplay wise, it's great! But from a personal taste, I don't like some of the character designs that much.

Well, yet another great thing about VF is that you can change the character designs if you don't like them. :)
