I just want to get this straight. The team that has been working on the game for 12 years is not finishing it? This is the greatest embarrassment in the game industry I have ever seen.
Im not that big of a fan, but even i would really like to play this
so i cant imagine how bad hardcore fans want to:P
Yeah it sure is pretty sad news. I was really hoping these guys would be able to finish it. I really enjoy the Duke and was looking forward to the game.

Yeah, I don't see why people are calling the publisher's decision 'sad' and 'harsh'. If a team is so hideously incompetent that they can't finish a game in twelve years contining to fund them would be an act of insanity (the N64's classic Goldeneye was released in 1997). The publishers ought to be nominated for sainthood for tolerating the idiocy and sloth of the development team as long as they did.
Make a list of your favorite/the best games ever and you will have a list of games that were finished in a fraction of the time that 3D Realm's spent working on DNF.
I'm surprised they were able to keep it open this long. What other games were they working on besides DNF?
The rumors will stay alive just as they always have been. The game itself will always be a myth though.
There seems to be quite of bit of misinformation going on regarding this closure. Take-Two is not responsible for this. They had a publishing agreement with 3D Realms that did NOT include development funding, that's basically why 3D Realms had the freedom to do what it did with Duke Nukem Forever. No publisher would fund a game for 12 years. Also, while Take-Two still holds the publishing rights, 3D Realms still fully owns the IP.
Anyway, 3D Realms haven't released a game since forever, I never could figure out how in the hell did they manage to stay in business for so long. It's always a shame to see a studio shut its doors--especially such an iconic indie developer that was around for a full 22 years--but I personally have no emotional attachment to 3D Realms or Duke Nukem.
it would be nice to get around to playing this title one day after all this time, butif it never actually manifests, I won't loose sleep over it.
