i've played playstation my entire life, im 16 so literally, from the moment i exited the womb i had a controller in my hand.

i've never owned an xbox, ive just always played playstation. and i have to say; ive never had a gaming PC and i can acknowledge the fact that i am fully aware PC is superior to console. like i know this is a very touchy subject but i mean why put up with the charade that console is the best thing ever when PC, at this moment, has tons more features?

is it bad that i admit that i enjoy console because it starts the games for me and whipes my ass for me basically? i dont think so, i just enjoy simplicity. i feel like console is much more easy to work with, but if you have the pateince to deal with a PC at times (because most work is manual) then youll be more satisfied.

is that weird? i dont know, just kinda venting i guess. i just overhear console arguments constantly and it's always confused me.

Of course it's not weird. Nothing you say is weird. The console wars are silly. Some people need validation for their purchase and some people simply like to argue or troll. It really doesn't matter which platform you play on, as long as you're having fun.

I've got a pc myself, but that's simply because I grew up with pc's. I've never owned a console in my life and I never felt the need to buy one. But that doesn't mean consoles are irrelevant or stupid. Even if pc's are superior on a technical level, what value does that fact really have when it comes to other people's personal preferences? You can discuss the pros and cons, but whatever weight is assigned to those pros and cons is mainly personal, so whatever machine comes out on top will differ from person to person. Therefore, this (sometimes seemingly obsessive) need to create some universal hierarchy, to make one machine the irrevocably superior one just seems silly to me.

I think youl find people dont take system wars as seriously as it might appear at first. There are a couple of posters in there who live an breath their console of choice (tormentos). Mostly its just people pissing around and hunting for a few tid bits of news to get one over on the opposing team. I find it quite a fun forum personally. I prefer Xbox, and il defend my preference quite happily in SW if I fundamentally disagree with someone, but its mostly just amusing watching people get trolled and owned whilst getting some gaming info.

No it's not weird.

Some people don't like getting their asses wiped for them and some people like being technical or authentic....

You are simplistic as you say... and that's why you don't argue in the System Wars forum...

That's obvious, simple. Very simple... So you don't have to worry.

Honestly, back when Xbox One, PS4, WiiU came out I would constantly bicker with my friends over which console was best. I worked in an Toys R Us at the time, so every time I would get to the video game section a random argument would happen just for giggles. None of it, for me, was ever really serious. Growing up I had PS1, PS2, Gamecube, GBA, GBC, PSP, and so on. I've played it all and even to this day I have both a Xbox One and a PS4. I'm a Gamer and I love it all, no matter what is it.

@wenchunable: Let me just say that I'm a gamer who owns all 3 current-gen consoles and a PC but however, I game way more on consoles then I do on PC mainly because I have lots of XBL/PSN friends that I enjoy playing with them and I tend to like the XBL community more so then PSN. Now as far as PC goes, it really depends on your taste but PC gives you more freedom then consoles and one thing about PC is, it's all about choices. There's nothing wrong with sticking it to the PlayStation brand and if that's what you'll like, it's all cool.

Well the rules in System Wars is to not take things way too seriously. I hardly make any threads over there and just easy for me to contribute to someone else thread.

@wenchunable: I've always been either a Sega or Xbox guy, but own all of the Nintendo & Sony consoles/handhelds as well. While I prefer Xbox over Playstation, its kind of a 60/40 split rather than 100/0 like some of the morons in System Wars. The truth is gaming is all that matters, brand should have little to do with it. Enjoy the games you like to play and ignore the idiots.

Not at all. There's nothing definite or final about preferences (if there were, the world sure would be a simpler place). Why would anyone start PC gaming if they aren't going to enjoy the unique aspects of it? Why buy a PS4 over an XB1 if you're just going to regret not being able to play the Xbox exclusives?

That said it's the same with sports or other things in life. There's competition, there's sides to pick (whether you feel strongly about it is another thing entirely) and there's good debates to be had. I have nothing against console wars, it's the disrespect you sometimes find which I dislike. Then again, disrespect isn't unique to gamers is it?

As with any brand loyalty, it's all about self justification. People have a need to feel that their decision to buy gaming platform "X" was the best. In order to do this, people put down others choices as foolish, which boosts your own ego, because of course you choose the best platform, for the best reasons, right?

It's like how every baby is ugly. Except when it's your baby.

I own Xbone/PS4/Beast of a gaming rig. 95 percent of my gaming is on PC, but I still enjoy the console exclusives while using media capabilities on both consoles. PC is no doubt the place to be if you have the money, and enthusiasm for gaming. 1440p/144hz/Gsync? Consoles can't come CLOSE at all to touching my pc. I really enjoy some genres only available on pc (civ/Total War). But Forza is the best car game on the market, period, so I stream that to my pc if not in the bedroom where my console is.

Anyways...PC does indeed require more knowledge, and work. But just like some people like fast cars, others like to work on their own to make them better than stock. That's the pc crowd. I enjoy games, and it's a hobby.

But in the end...it's all the ego. Selling yourself the idea that you made the best possible choice in your purchase, or even what you favor.

I like to think that for myself, at least, it has always been more about what console I genuinely like best, and not so much about putting down the consoles that other people like to be a douche bag to them.

You're 16, so the past 10 years or so I'd imagine you grew up with the PS3. The thing is that, in more recent years, a lot of smaller development teams have gone under, or else have been absorbed by bigger developers. The result is that a lot of games nowadays aren't as risky or different from other things out there on the market, with the exception of maybe some indies.

Ten or 15 years ago, people could really appreciate a game with a smaller budget, and it could go on to have a cult following. There were a greater number of exclusives being made for competing systems, so when you said you liked this system over the others, it was mostly because that system had a lot of great exclusive games - not just first-party stuff. I guess that's what I think, anyway, off the top of my head.

I play games, not platforms. If a game comes out on a platform and I really want to play it, I buy that platform. Bushido Blade came out on PS1 so I bought a PS1. Tekken Tag came out on PS2 so I bought a PS2. Halo and DOA3 came out on Xbox so I bought an Xbox. However, if a game is multiplat I'll generally favor the PC version because that means I can play it on my laptop when I travel for work and because I have a high end gaming PC so (bad ports aside) the PC version for me is usually the best possible version.

Of course, it helps that I can afford to buy whatever platform I want.

It's mostly children who are fanboys because they can't afford more than one system, so they cling to that system with everything they have.

It is not just kids, i have had debates with grown men who swear by one system and really has a hate for the other.

But it´s a natural thing , it´s in our DNA, We humans love to feel part of a group and hate on other groups.

And we all do it with something, football, sports, cars, electronics, politics etc.

@Gue1: I guess I consider myself to be a wolf, then. I kind of jump between each of the systems, and turn my back on them whenever I feel disappointed by them, to see what I've been missing elsewhere. I've got my fill of lots of different kinds of meat, but I probably won't get to enjoy the fresh pastures of grass and fresh air that some of the fanboys get to enjoy with their systems.

@Byshop: Idk, I thought Gue's post had some merit. A little OT, a little biased, sure. But he explained the Herm, Sheep, Lem, Cow thing pretty well. I mean, there is a reason why this or that group of people identifies with a particular system.

You're perfectly normal. There are millions of other people who think and feel the same you do.

Some of the superiorities that consoles have over PC is: simplicity (as you've stated) and convenience and decreased power consumption = more green and more green in your pocket.
