there is nothing wrong with JC1 . JC2 feels more complete though and the settlement challenges of blowing things up is addictive fun. i also read somewhere JC3 will be for next gen console. i'm hoping for everything from JC2 to be back, more guns, more gadgets, a currency system, more diverse settlement challenges. shoot now i wanna play JC2

I really liked Just Cause 2, I did beat the game and started on a 2nd play thru. However, I do not agree that its the best open world/sandbox game on the market. That title (to me) belongs to Red Dead Redemptoin, hands down, flying colors, no contest. I also think that Sleeping Dogs is much much better (made by the same company as JC2). Sleeping Dogs is nearly better than RDR (Very close, and it shocks me to even think that it could surpass RDR). Its crazy fun. I also think that Saint's Row 2 & 3 are better games, SR2 doesn't look as good but with the customization and crazy activities, its just more fun. Now I'm not trashing JC2, I had a blast with it but I just don't think its the best in its genre. No way.
I wouldn't say JC2 is best in genre, although that's mostly for the non-sandbox elements. The story is pretty bland, and the main missions are ok but other games do it better.
The game is at its best outside missions when you play it as a pure sandbox game - this is where I actually find it more fun than any other open world game I've played. Other games have more depth, better atmosphere etc, but for pure arcadey fun, JC2 is excellent.
