Just got a PS2!

Hey guys, I always bought XBOX and XBOX 360, but I sold both of them as I haven't played them in a long time.

Is it worth investing quite a bit into PS2 still? I got it for free, the system itself, with some sub-par games and 2 controllers.

I want to buy these games:
-God of War (1+2)
-MGS Essential Collection
-Kingdom Hearts 2
-FFX
-FFXII
-Gran Turismo 4
etc.

Is that a good list? What do you guys recommend? I missed out on the PS2 and know it has a lot of good games.

PS2 is worth it just for God of War alone.

GTA III, VC, SA

Hitman Contracts, Blood Money

Nooo. I said the games I recieved with my PS2 ARE subpar. Not the games that I want.

The list above is the games that I'm going to get. I've played KH2 and found it to be alright without having played KH1. I didn't complete KH 2 however, and I really enjoyed it.

You should get all those games on your list and also Jak and Daxter 1, 2, and 3 and all of the Ratchet and Clank games.

Don't listen to people when they say FF12 is the worst of the series. In my opinion, FF12 is one of the best games ever, and it's only closely followed by FF10.

I don't care for Kingdom Hearts or GT4(I hate driving sims though, much prefer arcade racers). But it's a good list.

Recommend: Ratchet and Clank series, Disgaea/Disgaea 2, Persona 3 FES, Zone of the Enders 2,

Timesplitters 1, 2 and 3, The silent Hill collection MGS3:Subsistance (I think you only get the regular MGS3 in the essentials thing Subsustance is better) War of the monsters, Gitaroo man, Resident Evil 4, Primal, theres LOADS lol, and you have like 7-ish years worth of games to catch up on and they should mostly be cheap :)

I know, it's late.

Always wanted one, but got an XBOX last generation.

Just realized my Fat PS2 is model SCPH-30001 model. Is it worth investing quite a bit of money into games for this system, or will it just die out pretty soon because I heard the laser is weak and it's the first gen PS2.

If the game is for PS2 then it should work, I don't know what model type has to do with playing disks, except for region origins but otherwise, there shouldn't be a problem...I think

I've had my PHAT PS2 for over 5 years and I have played the heck out of it and there are no problems with my laser. I know what you're talking about though, and I believe thats only if you watch too many movies on it.

I had a bad spell with my first PS2, but the one I own now, I've had for around 4 years.

no one owns a ps2 with out owning timesplitters 1 2/3

Yes it is a good list, but there is no point in getting Kingdom Hearts II if you haven't played the first one. There will be quite a bit of plot you won't understand. Also, personally I found the first Kingdom Hearts to be a lot better than the sequel. CommanderShiro

Actually I think that in order to understand the KH2 plot the best, you should play KH1 and KH:Chain of Memories for GBA. Of course, it isn't a necessity. And as you said, you have played KH2 and liked it without the back story. But for someone who wants the most out of the KH series, there is a lot missing in KH2 without KH:CoM.

But I agree, I also found the first Kingdom Hearts a lot more interesting and fun than the second.
