i just played some of the game. the graphics look like the best game ever on the PS3. but it caused the game to lag. not consistently. but to freeze often. tho graphics are stunning. haven't started KZ3 yet. is it better?

Yes amazing graphics, I remember Jim Sterling (who I'm a big fan of) criticizing it for the drab colour palette but of course the setting is a war torn apocalyptic one. This ain't exactly my little pony, it looks and plays great but I get the same slight lag issues in MP too.
Killzone 2 looks amazing, especially considering when it was released. But the controls were awful and really hindered my enjoyment of the game. Maybe frame rate drops or whatever are partially to blame for how awkward it felt to play the game. But Killzone 3 also looks incredible and is much more responsive and enjoyable to play.
I have recently played through it as a late adopter and I was amazed at how good it looked. I can safely say that whilst playing, I didn't notice any frame rate drops that made it unbearable or frustrating; just kind of a mild annoyance. But I can say that it was brilliant. I too need to get KZ3 now as a result

The problem with Killzone's gameplay up until Shadow Fall is they made your character move like an actual soldier -- like a person with 80 pounds of crap weighing you down -- in an attempt to make it feel more realistic, but the thing about actual war is that it's not fun. Real war sucks. Moving like an actual soldier sucks.
@IMAHAPYHIPPO: I don't think Killzone 3 really had that problem. And some people actually liked the extra weighty feel in Killzone 2. I was obviously not one of those people because I thought it was excessive and made the game feel very clunky. Killzone 3's movement and everything was much looser, though not quite to the level of, say, Call of Duty. But it was definitely loose enough to actually be playable.
