Hopefully the sales figures from Force Unleashed will spur on development on KOTOR 3. There is still a thirst for Star Wars when it's done right

Bioware has already said they have a KOTOR MMO in the works.

Honestly I think you guys need to start preparing yourselves for the fact that EA is going to kill the KOTOR franchise. Theyve already said they are no longer greenlighting any SP exclusive games. All games must have MP or it wont be made. KOTOR MMO is going to be StarWars Galaxies set 2000 years in the past. Any "real" KOTOR game is going to be crap because EA will force Bioware to spend more time on MP than on SP.

The series has become another MMO. As far as I can tell there will be no other singleplayer iteration. Just another WoW clone to take the place of Star Wars Galaxies.

I feel they have to give us a third because of the fact that the second game ending didnt tie up all the loose ends.

MMO's are awesome. When video games try to go online just to rake in money and do as little work as possable thats stupid. If I had a god damn computer and broadband I would be playing World of Warcraft not some stupid game a PUBLISHER forced a DEVELOPER to make.

The problem with MMO's is that they make you become just a small fish in a big pond, whereas single player rpg's put you at center stage. So, you're not going to get to play as a badass like Revan or the Exile in the mmo.

Well I assume you are referring to the thread I made about it... Theres actually an article on GameSpot where the CEO or EA confirms BioWare is working on a KotOR MMO.

I sense some disappointment in your comment and I share it completely. I wish KOTOR remained a single player RPG, but sadly I doubt Lucasarts will resist the temptation of the pay-per-play.

I'd like to know how they're going to resolve the storyline of the first two games since they've left many unanswered questions. A MMO format does not seem to be an adequate way to handle this issue.

Well, in fairness to EA, the KOTOR MMO was already in development when they bought Bioware. I'd love a single player KOTOR 3 as much as anyone, but I just don't think Bioware is interested in making that game since they've got their plate full with their own single player RPG properties like Dragon Age and the Mass Effect trilogy.

I suppose I'm one of the few that is interested in seeing what they will do with the MMO. I doubt this will be another Star Wars Galaxies, since that game ended up being a huge failure.

I'm excited for the new twist on the KotOR series. I thought the games were fun as SP, but honestly, I buy a game and hope to play it for at least a couple hundred hours. I think this game will smoothly morph into the mmo genre.

From memory, BioWare didn't do KotOR 2. Obsidian did. BioWare wanted to do Jade Empire instead. If BioWare is working on a KotOR MMORPG, what does that mean for their current series: Mass Effect?

Unless Im mistaken Obsidian is either owned by Bioware, or is a sister company of Bioware. Point is Bioware did have a hand in the making of KOTOR 2. They acted like they did back when they used to work with Black Isle. Black Isle was the front company for alot of game with Bioware helping out. Same thing with KOTOR 2, Obsidian was the front company but Bioware was somewhat involved.

Unless it happened recently, Obsidian isn't owned or tied to Bioware in any business way. The company is made up of old Black Isle guys, so they've simply maintained a friendship with Bioware trying to help them get work. AFAIK the only involvement Bioware had with KOTOR 2 was to provide technical assistance with the game engine.

Bioware opened up an entirely new studio to work on the MMO. I assume their main studio is still working on the single player games.

If 3 is indeed solely an MMO, well...we'll always have KOTOR 1 right?
