Give this a thought, "I Am Legend" Zombie/Vampire hybrid

Game Starts Out

*Random City, Random Buildings, Random Start Location*

Story
You are some Soldier working for say "Umbrella Corp" you overhear a zombie outbreak in another facility location and know the zombie outbreak will take *Random Time* to reach your city. You take out a loan, *Random Amount* you must find a building/house/anything you can purchase for an amount you feel is reasonable. Meanwhile you must also find out where the resources in the city are and purchase barricading supplies.

GamePlay
As the game progresses the zombies get smarter. you must either keep changing ways your barricades are setup during the day, purchasing stronger stuff, or attempt getting a car finding a new home and starting from a new location in a day. every month a zombie/mini boss with random attributes/skills will come inside your city weither or not he finds you or not.

Multiplayer Mode
would randomly place players in a game in the city in random areas aswell so you can attempt a long drive and band together or just get lucky.

Side-Notes
Keeping everything Random would increase replay value along with making the game-play new and exciting for everyone.

the More barricading customizations the better, I have even thought possibly about, if the game was setup like the "Sims" while working on your house, then FPS while doing anything else. However I'm still leaning towards fps, with say HL2 Gravity Gun Handling for barricades.

Anyone else think a game like this would be awesome?

So it's an "I Am Legend" TD? Not a terrible idea, more suited for flash or something instead of consoles though IMO. Unless that's what you were going for.

no I was going more for the whole concept of being like a randomized GTA style city, with heavy customization and multiple ways to play the play throu the game, via hold up in a house with a friend, or 2 houses side by side, setup a convoy. drive throu the night and rest during the day *opposite of resident evil extinction* but trying to make each night fun. unique and hell to get through is a game I would love to play!

I'd play the hell out of a Walking Dead video game. It could be that your'e a member of another group of survivors and get to interact with the main cast from time to time or have a morality meter. You could be the hard ass person who shoots any party member who gets infected or waits for them to turn. You could help out another group of people or rob them for supplies. It would be really cool if you played it online and had an entire party of online members. When one of them is bit, the group has to decide what to do, especially if that member is a key player (good at finding weapons, fighting off zombies, getting supplies, ect.).

Then when the player turns, they can still control the zombie and go after the rest of the party, shuffle around and try to form an undead party or quit and rejoin the party as a new member or join a new game. This is what would make it hard as hell. You level up. If you're a level 20 and can find supplies better than anyone else, then get bit and turn, you're still a level 20, but undead. Let's say your party members kill you or you join another game/quit-rejoin. Your level is back at 1.

Something like The Walking Dead but in a setting like I Am Legend. The idea of zombies getting smarter is pretty stupid. Zombies are not suppose to be smart. And the creatures in I Am Legend aren't zombies. I love that movie though. Till this day, no one has made a zombie game in city setting, with perhaps countryside missions. yeah, something like The Walking Dead would be amazing. With a great story, memorable characters. I hate it when they have bad writing. By the way, The Walking Dead Episode 3 was awesome.. Best episode yet.

I didn't get to watch it. I don't have cable. I watched the highlights on AMC. Damnit, why can't they do like MTV, Adult Swim, and sometimes Comedy Central and show full episodes of recent programming. Caught the new Beavis and Butthead episode that way. One of the things I hate the most about the video game industry is that a lot of devs are close minded like this. Fans come up with great ideas or at least something to work with that could be a great game and they shrug it off because fans "aren't in the business".
