I've actually had this sort of concept floating around in my head for quite some time.
How would you get this to work? Would it be first-person? Would it be an MMO (or at least multiplayer, with each server being a school?) How would dialouge work?
The ideas I've come up with so far:
Skills separated into three main categories; academic, social, and physical.
The skills would be things like "Math Proficiency", "Proactivity" (the higher it is, the less likely you are to procrastinate. You might even get homework done during school), "Quick Thinking" (which would allow better conversation options), "Running Speed", and so forth.
You would move up or down a scale in terms of social popularity with the teachers and students (seperately) depending on your conversations and such.
Classes would be handled either by a cutscene based off of your skillset, or merely skippable (and you could view the results afterward somehow).
Bathroom needs would be handled not by a meter, but by subtle indicators. There's really no way to indicate pain in first-person other than a red outline or saying "oww" outloud, so I would do that.
Grinding for tests would be studying (devoting your time at home or at free periods in school instead of other things).
Tests themselves would be the same as classes, and you get the results back later (just like in real life).
What's kind of sad about all this is that we're discussing making a game about real life as realistically as possible, when we use games as a means to escape real life. :P
