Do you buy them? For which games do you buy them. Do you think they have value?

I almost never buy them. I find the extra plastic and content to be pointless most of the time. The only time I ever bought a special edition was for Skyward Sword because it came with a Wii remote plus. It's extra content had a functional use for me.

I buy them rarely. I do think they are neat, and for those whom are willing to spend extra on a particular game.

I haven't bought one in years, mostly because I've been a bit strapped financially.  But when I have the money, I will almost always buy some sort of special edition if available since I enjoy collecting games.  As far as value goes, it really depends on the game and whether or not it has a lasting appeal.  Something like Madden wouldn't do so well with any sort of special edition because it's a yearly franchise.  Whereas, say, the editions of GTA coming out this year may hold some value a few years from now.

Rarely. I don't usually have the money to throw down right away (the ones I want always sell out quickly). But I did get the limited edition of Catherine. That came with some really weird stuff. It made for an interesting LE so I didn't mind. I also like the ones with those gorgeous art books.

If they contain something tangible that appeals to me, sure. If it's in-game hand holding along with some digital downloadable media, absolutely not.

Very rarely and only because I' m not given a choice. For example, the local stores here had only the Limited Edition of Metro Last Light so I got that. Funny thing is I got it cheaper than the normal game on steam.

The only one I actually went out of my way to purchase was the Alan Wake CE, and only after it came down to $60 dollars. Most collector's editions don't even begin to interest me with what they offer. I liked the Alan Wake package because it looked great, had the standard making-of stuff, and it had a nice hard-cover book filled with backstory and other things that enhanced the atmosphere of the game.

For a highly anticipated game I'll at least get the limited edition. If the collectors edition has worthwhile content that justifies the asking price then I might purchase it.

Nowadays, collector's editions are less valuble than 5-6 years ago. There are more quantities produced, so the value in "collector's edition" goes down. Also, no point of buying a collector's edition on day one, since they drop in price so quickly that you can get a brand new one for half price very soon after the game release.

I really like them myself and will generally buy them when I can although it depends on my level of interest in the game as well as if there are more games that are currently or soon to be released that I want to buy too.

I loved the CE's that Working Designs always came up with for their games. Usually a combination of some swag, art and a soundtrack. Those really felt worth it. Today you mostly get garbage stuff like a thumb drive and an in-game skin or something. Generally not worth it. I did buy the GW2 CE, though. I love their artbooks, for the reading and the pictures, and that huge Rytlock statue is great for scaring small animals.

I almost never buy them because I think they have little or no value. Really, they're a good way for publishers to inflate the selling price $10-$100 over a regular copy by throwing in a few dollars' worth of garbage.

Not all that often. The last two I would actually consider collectors editions that I had to have were both from Atlus; Catherine's Love is Over edition and the Solid Gold Premium edition of Persona 4 Golden.
