Hello :) Could you recommend any good games with a girl as main character? Any genre would be good but especially RPG or Action :)
@manaphy: Is this more cosmetic, or are you looking for a female character with depth and motivation?
Dragon's Dogma and Dark Souls let you make a female avatar, as does Monster Hunter. Many games have a CC that let you pick gender. The three I mention however just so happen to be great game franchises as well.
But for compelling female leads I'd go with Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice or Life is Strange.
Would recommend Heavenly Sword, however it's only on PS3 and the hair physics can be distracting.
Otherwise the two posters above covered the topic really well as well.
Mass Effect series
Tomb Raider/ Rise of the Tomb Raider
Gravity Rush 1 & 2
Nier Automata
Beyond Two Souls
Bayonetta 1 & 2
Xenosaga Ep. III
Final Fantasy 13/ Lightning Returns
Final Fantasy 10-2
Perfect Dark
Dragon Age Origins
Diablo 2 & 3
Metroid
The Longest Journey
Baldur's Gate 2
Tales of Xillia (There are two main characters, other one is male)
Tales of Berseria
Nier Automata
Tomb Raider Series
Uncharted Lost Legasy
Alice Madness Returns
Heavenly Sword
Valkiria Chroniceles (Some would argue that Velkin is the MC. In my eyes Alicia is the MC)
Gravity Rush 1+ Gravity Rush 2
Lolipop Chainsaw
Bayonetta
Nights of Azure
They pretty much nailed it already but I'll make a list anyway
- Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep (Aqua. Enough said)
- Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy
- Tales of Berseria
- Mirrors Edge
- Life Is Strange
- Gravity Rush 1 & 2
- Wet
- Persona 3 Portable (Gives you two different stories with option to play as male or female)
- Heavenly Sword
- Nier Automata
- World of Final Fantasy (It's about a brother and sister and you play as whichever one you want but it's pretty clear who runs the show imo)
So.... has anyone looked at CrossCode?
I'm really excited for it. I played through the first area a while back and it feels great.
It's like a modern Secret of Mana style game play with dungeons and puzzles and a nice, tight combat system. Interesting story too; about a girl who is stuck in some sort of real life MMORPG - I tried to avoid spoiling myself too much though since I'm waiting for the release version.
Should be out of early access in the next month or two.
I always enjoyed playing as FemShep in the Mass Effect games. Added bonus, there are strong female non-player characters as well. Something rewarding about sleazing, shooting, and biotic'ing (?) your way across the galaxy as an all-girl squad of sci-fi commandos.
Shep, Ashley, and Liara in ME1; Shep, Liara, and Miranda in ME2; and Shep, Tali, and Ashley in ME3. Toss in a couple others like Samara/Morinth, Jack (love her!), and so on.
There's also:
Half-Life 2: Alyx might not be the main character, but she is definitely the main character with a speaking role. Playing alongside her and Dog is simply incredible.
Mirror's Edge: maybe not the greatest series, but fun enough, with a very headstrong and independent protagonist
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is amazing.
Transistor is a different kind of game, a semi-turn-based tactical-action-RPG. Main character is pretty great despite being mute.
Divinity 1 and 2: Original Sin has some great female characters, and you can play as one as well. I like Lhose, personally, but Sabine is cool too :D
The Tomb Raider reboots, Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider, are pretty epic. Great female character, love what they did with her. Especially in the first game, she is this innocent young woman put in this terrible situation.
@manaphy:
Hyperdimension Neptunia series! No one has mentioned them at all, so I will.
Also...
Atelier Firis, Ayesha, Rorona and Totori are great mentions.
