Not really. Upon re-examination, this sounds exactly like Final Fantasy II for the NES, so we've got many more options.

Nah, not really. I believe in the original BoF, Ryu was just going somewhere after the empire killed his town at first. The second one didn't even have an empire or much to run from (except Barubary (or however the hell you spell it :P)).

IIRC at the beginning a bunch of diablo looking soldier burned down the town, and then he ran off formed his party of four and ran after and occasionally away from soldiers.. its been a long time though.

But I'm really not sure that this guy has ever played FF2.

THere are no diablo esque characters in that game, there are mutants and cops however, and the setting is definitely not medieval!

Oh I know, I'm just saying if you cut out both the stereotypical Western AND Eastern RPG archetypes, we aren't left with a whole lot to work with.

Agreed. Good concept, but destroyed by not only the glitch that makes it ridiculously broken, but also the fact that it dares you to use this glitch.
