So ive been using a CRT forever now and going to be getting an Xbox One so I'm gonna need either an HDTV or a Monitor. Ive ben avoiding HDTV's for a while now since every single one ive come across always had really bad HD lag. What should i be looking out for in the specifications if i want an HDTV or Monitor that has the least possible HD lag. Also which would be the better choice, the monitor or tv and why. I am not really looking to spend more than $300.

If you're buying it strictly for gaming, then there's not much to really look out for. A lot of the features that supposedly make the TV better should be turned off for gaming anyways.

If you're going to be watching a lot of videos, then you might want to look into things like contrast ratios, refresh rates, "true motion", 3D, dynamic contrasting, etc... Those features will add to the price, however. Again, for the purposes of gaming, I'd recommend the biggest screen that fits well in your space and looks good from the distance you'll be sitting. It's kind of a waste having an xbox one plugged into a 26" screen. Most TV's do a good job of displaying a nice picture, if you take the time to set them up. So don't worry too much about brand names.

Where would the Input lag be on the product description for this Samsung HD TV or any other HD TV on a website? Does Plasma, LCD or LED make a difference?

@stackvibe: Cnet has input lag listed on page 2 of their reviews. Your going to get the best picture quality from a plasma with pretty low lag vs an lcd in game mode which lowers picture quality even more. I have a Samsung 50in. A650 series plasma from 2008 and the picture is amazing compared to any lcd I have seen. I do not know what the input lag is on mine but it is not noticeable. I have no burn in on my plasma it just gets image retention which goes away. As long as you dont do something stupid with a plasma burn in should not be an issue. The best bang for buck PQ included was the panasonic S60 line of plasmas, but they are discontinued this year or it might have been last year. So to me the next best thing would be a samsung plasma and you dont need a really expensive one to get a superb picture. Oh and samsungs have the most accurate color decoders out of the box. Plasmas do not have problems with fast moving scenes either and do not produce the soap opera effect with technologies like 240hz or 120hz.

Local dimming on lcd tv's increases input lag like the guy above me said any additional processing done to the image will increase lag this includes sharpness setting, dynamic contrast, etc.

Led is just the lighting used for an lcd tv they also use fluorescent in the cheaper models. Lcd light last longer and use less energy than fluorescent but in terms of PQ I dont think it really matters.

$300 u might want to save up and get a used tv.

I use an LG plasma 50" for my PC and consoles, works like a charm, no problem whatsoever. Only negative is some movement in the picture that can be seen in the peripheral vision. I think they are pretty cheap by now too.
