- In any game that gives me the option, I will always go for a female character. I don't know why, I just do.
- In games that also let me choose race (DA, Skyrim, etc) I play as a human. Not a dwarf, elf, khajiit, orc, etc.
- As for class, I choose the warrior (or whatever the game's equivalent is) about 80%. It usually depends on the game and it's mechanics if I choose to try a different class.
I tend to alternate. To me, the character is the protagonist of the story and not "me" specifically so I don't have strong feelings about the character's gender matching my own. In the ME series, I chose a Femshep all the way through and in retrospect I liked Jennifer Hale's voice acting over Maleshep.
In Dark Souls I mostly made male characters, although my agility build PvP character in DS1 is female.
In Skyrim, the character models/races all seemed so interchangable I just didn't care.
DA I did female characters.
In Tomb Raider I picked... oh... wait. Nevermind.
