WOAH!

Mark Wahlberg, the actor slated to play Max Payne in the upcoming film based on the popular video game franchise, states that he has not played, and will not play the video game. Why? Because he says he has an addictive personality, and that, combined with his other adult responsibilities, simply won't mesh well.

In an interview with People.com, Wahlberg says "I didn't want to play because I have an addictive personality." The actor then adds:

"I got more responsibility now than I've ever had with the kids and everything else. I don't want to be spending 14 hours on the videogame and then eight hours on the set. It's not going to work out."

That's strange. I seem to remember Mark Wahlberg posing for Calvin Klein in his underwear, grabbing his crotch, and belting out really bad rap songs about vibrations or something like that.

Guess it's a good thing his addictive personality didn't kick in back then, or we may have been treated to a Max Payne in boxer briefs, running around shooting people and asking "can you feel it baby?".

The game is eight hours long Mark and so much better than your film will ever be. R.I.P. Max... you served us gamers well.

Johny Knoxville should have played Max Payne. Look at Max in the first game, he looks like Johnny Knoxville trying to hold in a huge load.

lol...Actually I heard No More Heroes' Travis Touchdown was inspired by Knoxville. It's appropriate that Travis sits on the can whenever you save your game.

Doesn't bother me so much, coming from a guy who enjoys rolling around against a chain link fence with no shirt on. Must be bi polar. Can't keep his priorities straight enough to pretend to game, or even keep his wife beater on.

Seriously, if this is true. How does this help movie ticket sales? I know most stars pretend to use the products they endorse. So why not pretend to make himself look geeky cool? Vin diesel has been doing it for years. People actually believe he can read and plays D&D.

Eh.... Maybe he has to keep face for the Funky Bunch.

Well I've got to agree, if it was for acting purposes, like, "I don't want to portray the character in the game, I want to portray MY character", that would have been more interesting. An addictive personality? Sounds like he has played a lot of video games in the past!

You can beat the game three times in 14 hours. Anyway, if this story is true the movie is going to be bad, since actors must study their characters before impersonating them. The fact he doesn't even look like either Max Payne version doesn't help.

Awesome. Why should he familiarize himself with the source material of the movie he starred in? Just put your blinders on, read the script as you go and phone in your lines. Bingo, instant cheque.

He'd be in for a suprise seeing the game has no demons or supernatural elements.

The movie looks like a Constantine rip-off.

Seeing as how the games are so short, I don't think this is a valid excuse.
