A more interesting way of getting resources from planets. The scanning system in ME2 was mind-numbing. I know it's not essential to do it, but it helps to have more resources.
More free-roaming. I wouldn't want it to turn into a sandbox game, but if planets had half-decent sized cities (like 1/4 the size of an island on GTA).
Trading system. Being able to buy more supplies from various markets on different planets and trade items (similar as to how you purchase from tradesmen in Fallout 3).
Bring back specialty ammo. I want concussion rounds for my shotgun and more weapons choices overall. I also would like more walking around and more expansive areas, Decent love interests for a female Shepard. Oh and allow more flexibility in the good/bad dialogue choices. I should be able to mix it up (or god-forbid be neutral) and still be able to win the game.
I want my crew same as you do, I don't want to have to go fetch a whole new crew all over again this time I want to be reacquiring old friends.
More RPG elements than the second game had, as a previous poster said I want ammo options back and armours along with omnitools etc. I doubt this will happen though :( but it would be nice.
Oh and bring back planet exploration!!! while I loved ME2 I did miss this (at least I can go back and play the first I guess) and using the hammerhead in the mako's place? yes please 8).
And that is why although I love the story ME remains a much better game to me. I do hope ME3 makes me forget ME2 even existed.
Planet Earth.
Bigger ship, more crew, physx(something like Bad Company 2), more in depth crew interaction, new resource system, better AI, real AA(not that film grain **** ) more ship customization, more RPG elements, i culd go on forever...
I want it to be a year from now
I also would like to see an inventory system to come back. Out of all the changes with 2 the one thing I missed was a set inventory system. If it does not happen it is not a big deal but would be cool along with some more interesting items. Both installations had some really awesome weapons and armors so it would be cool to see that trend continue.
no multiplayer. Tired of single player games suddenly getting some lame multiplayer mode thrown in.AllicrombieI agree
more bigger and interesting towns! I was disappointed with the few major towns in the game. I miss the citadel from the first ME too
- Add a lot more RPG aspects so we could call it an RPG again unlike ME2(I'm sorry but that is NOT an RPG)
- Scrap the scanner crap and go back to letting us explore the planet for minerals(Mako was more fun that the boring scanning crap)
- Add XP back for anything you kill and not just per mission(Who came up eith this bright idea anyway?)
And that is why although I love the story ME remains a much better game to me. I do hope ME3 makes me forget ME2 even existed.
Dracula68
My thoughts exactly.
I rather enjoyed driving around in the Mako. It reminded me of a game on the old macs(green and black screens). It was a side scroller with a moon vehicle. I want it to be an actual RPG. Where's my inventory?
[QUOTE="King9999"] -Improved resource gathering. ME1 and ME2 were both bad, so hopefully Bioware can do something fun for ME3.Dracula68I actually loved the Mako and exploring that way(I would just have them tweak the controls a bit). Just scanning for hours(I did it for over 8 freaking hours!--never again which is why I will never touch ME2 again)i completed the game with No one dying and i didnt even spend 8 hours scanning i just scan 3 rich planets down to moderate and go do missions or find side quest . You were dedicated to your scanning lol
I personally want
- Elevator rides (So i can hear the News instead of walking up to terminals , and To get rid of Ugly load screen that of ME2)
-Regular XP (I dont wanna see the Illusive man after every mission )
-More Open citys (instead of space ports , more side quest )
-MORE CUSTOMIZATION !!!! ( i don't want 2 pieces of armor that's not a RPG i want to find cooler armor and not pay real money for it )
-Mako - ( K Babies the was bad but all it needed was improved controls instead everyone complained and we got plant scanning )
-No plant Scanning ...
- better class setup .
[QUOTE="SpArKs424"] You were dedicated to your scanning lolI was trying to make sure I had enough minerals so I never had to do it again. Believe it or not I didn't have that much left over. That burnt me out for sure but also made me against ever doing it again.Dracula68
I stop at every planet I could to get the minerals and only left when the planet is poor or I ran out of probs. I keep searching until all four was full or higher and that is after I upgrade the ship.

Wow... Well, just so you know, you get 50,000 of each resource on your second playthrough, although I'm sure that's paltry to whatever you had after scanning for 8 hours. Good grief.
More focus story with a real antagonist. Mass Effect 2's major failing was that it felt like too much of it was filler. In the first game, it was all about your chase of Saren, with each world specifically tying into the eventual climax. There really was no central antagonist in the third game, just "The Reapers" and all the loyalty missions, while good at character building, felt too unconnected.
Classes should also allow for more variety. I think the Infiltrator is the best example in ME2 of how much variety a class can provide, but other classes like The Vanguard your pigeon holed into one specific play-style.
Planet Exploration with the Hammerhead. One of the best parts of the first Mass effect was the first time you landed on a planet with the Mako. Yeah, the mako controls sucked, but ME1 had the superior immersion. Mass Effect 2 had arduous planet scanning. The Hammer Head Controls better, and if the Overlord DLC is anything to go by, that would be the perfect mix for exploration in missions.
New squadmates. I know everyone wants the ME2 squad back, but with the possiblity of all but two dying, I just don't see them being playable in the third game. Just the same, along with a more focused storyline, I'd prefer the recruitment process to be more like the first game. You recruit people as you do the actual missions instead of being sent on a recruitment drive.
Better Armor. I'm going to be frank, the armor in ME2 sucked. Customization is nice, but not if at the end of the day, it really doesn't make a difference. If they're going to give customizable armor, I want to actually be able to tell the difference of the stuff I have equipped. A chest piece that only increases power damage by 3% isn't anything.
More character defining moments. Shepard died and came back to life in the second game, but the player and Shepard is never actually given the chance to reflect on that. Shepard rarely got the chance to evolve as a character during the story because it was all about the daddy issues his/her squad suffered. All together, there's only three times Shepard is even asked how do you feel, by Chakwas, By Jacob if you romanced him, and by Liara in Lair of the Shadow Broker. Outside of that, Shepard was just an empty void who just helped everyone else out. So in ME3, I want Shepard to become more personal to the player. He/She is the player and it should feel like your Shepard is unique.
I loved ME 2 and don't think they need to Re-Invent the wheel. Things I would love to see.
*An equally impressive story as the first and second games.
*Make the game more customizable. Things like weapons, clothes, and our room should be fully customizable (weapons should have visible add ons).
*I would love to see even more moral decisions, and how those effect our personalities and the way people act around our character.
- In depth crafting system wherein you could craft additions for the ship and special armor and weapons for your squad. Components for the super cool high end stuff could be obtained through resource gathering ( which needs to be active and not through boring scanning ) and completing side quests and or killing important enemies.
- Xp from everything.
- In depth talent trees.
- Less filler planets that just give flavor info and are not interactive at all ( aside from boring scanning ).
- Level cap that is high enough you cant possibly cap out simply by just playing through the game. 99 would be best with a normal no side quest playthrough leaving you about 2/3 of the way there.
- I want it to be A LOT harder.
- Real time dialogue overlays and not the fixed, zoom in on the person and interrupt your immersion crap.
- Tons of sidequests. Im probably in the minority on this but in an RPG i absolutley LOVE doing tons of sidequests to kit myself out and experience more of the atmosphere. I actually like doing sidequests more than the main quests most of the time. I usually dont continue with the story in an RPG until there is nothing left to do elsewhere.
I do NOT want to ever see the mako again, the mako parts in ME1 are the reason I still haven't finished it. They are extremely boring and the controls are terrible, yeah planet scanning sucked, but you can scan 3-5 planets in the time it takes to mako 1. nottuOh, Hell no! You've got to be kidding me. Controlling the Mako was a lot easier than scanning. Scanning 3-5 planets would take me at least 90 minutes (if you do the whole planet until NOTHING shows up at all) and using the Mako on 1 planet would take maybe a half hour if that.
Planet Exploration with the Hammerhead. One of the best parts of the first Mass effect was the first time you landed on a planet with the Mako. Yeah, the mako controls sucked, but ME1 had the superior immersion. Mass Effect 2 had arduous planet scanning. Lionheart08Thank you! Finally....the Rock has.......errrr.........Finally someone gets it!!!!!

When I did scanning, did it once, never wanted to do it again. Exploring planets was a good system, just not very well implemented
HOWEVER, if you have the PC version, you could edit your save files (loved doing this ever since Sims 2) that allows you to set the number of minerals you have. That way you can play again without ever having to scan those planets again and still have minerals to upgrade your ship and weapons.
an earlier release date first and foremost :)
but i'd just like to see the characters from mass effect 1 return
I hope most of the game is not on earth, although i wouldn't mind a part or the ending to be on earth, one of my favorite things about that game is going to places that aren't earth.
the same combat system as mass effect 2, just more guns, more abilities, more strategies, more options i guess.
i always thought some mini games would be cool to have aboard the normandy that you could play against squad memebers, sort of like pazzak in kotor.
