I picked up Max Payne for Xbox today as its a game i've been wanting to play for a long time after hearing rave reviews for it, and was just wondering your opinion on the game?
Also, how long does it take to complete, i feel like sitting down and playing through a game today and i think its going to be Max Payne dependent on length.
Thanks :D

its a good game. when it came out it was pretty much ground breaking but now its a little too common. their are some frustrating parts that can take a while to do since you do them over and over but it should take around 15 hrs i think.

Max Payne was an awesome game. I had a blast playing it, even though I didn't get it until several years after it had been released. I honestly cannot tell you how long it took me to finish it, because it sucked me in so well, that I have no idea for how long I played. I beat the game in two sittings, and it would have only been one if I hadn't had classes and coursework. *Grumbles*

I first played Max Payne when it was first released on the PC, such a fantastic game, everything about it was just generally really good, and I must say, you've made a very good purchase, although in my opinion the PC version is the best to play.

Can't wait for Max Payne 3!!

It's great, one of my favourite games from last gen. As for length, I'd say just under 10 hours.

Spot on. I agree it's a great game that's not tooo long, but like you said it sucks you in and when you complete it you feel like you've been through hell, quite a lengthy hell at that.

Just to clarify, the Hell you experience is the story of the game in terms of the events, not the gameplay or the quality of the story.

Then we are talking about two different games, lol.

i preferred the first. the game is immersive and there are a couple spots that are likely to take more than one attempt...but you don't want it to be too easy.

You can figure them out though. It is hard to say because everyone's styIe is different, and it depends on the type of game you prefer and whether or not this is the kind with which you are most at ease. If this is your preferred genre probably won't take you too long and you will enjoy it.

but I would give a rough estimate of somewhere between 10-16 hours for the first run through.

Remembering the comic book cut scenes will be taking up a bit of time but they tell the story so i did not skip them(the first time i played the game).

I played it so many times Gamespot turned it down as a trade in - they were not able to refurbish the disc:P

We are talking about the same game. The gameplay and the story makes the game, and both contribute alot to what I was talking about. You don't think the gameplay is, and I do. We obviously have different opinions about what made what we felt at the end of the game. You don't speak for me and I don't speak for you, so stop talking to me as if what your take on the game is is a fact, and what my take on it is wrong.

Max Payne is one of those games that sucks you in and never lets go. The "noir" storyline, the environments through the abandon apartment complexes, some very sick and interesting characters, and some clever game sequences really draws in an amazing experience. I find it not only to be one of those pure adrenaline games but one that takes strategy as well. Have to time your slow motion sequences and know what guns to use for which situation.

Whoa, chill. I didn't say I was right. I didn't say you were wrong. I didn't personally insult you or anything of that manner. All I meant was that for us, we were playing two different games, or having two different experiences if you don't get as agitated with that.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say that I don't think the gameplay is, is what?

When I said at the end of the game you feel like you have been through hell, the hell I was referring to could have been the gameplay or the story, or both. You replied back saying that the hell one experiences is not the gameplay. So from that, you're saying no matter if I thought the hell was the gameplay, I was wrong, because it wasn't the gameplay. That's what it sounded like anyway.

When I said you don't think the gameplay is, what I meant by that was you personally don't think the gameplay is the hell one went through when one completes the game. That's what you said. Infact you insisted, by saying "Just to clarify, the Hell you experience is the story of the game in terms of the events, not the gameplay or the quality of the story."

You've just worded it in a way that makes it sound like the fact of the matter is you are right and I am wrong. That's just how I felt about it.

I apologize for that. I thought what you had posted was unintentionally ambiguous, and I sought to clarify it from my perspective. I didn't state that you were wrong for not liking the gameplay (?), but that I thought someone might interpret your post as the gameplay was bad. I didn't realize that was what you meant. You don't have to like the game, that's your opinion, but I thought the ambiguity about what you meant was unintentional.

As above, I thought it was unintentional to place the gameplay in a position where it could be interpreted as hellish. My mistake.

You've just worded it in a way that makes it sound like the fact of the matter is you are right and I am wrong. That's just how I felt about it.liquidzero123

My clarifications didn't state that you were wrong. I was only trying to, as I say, clarify. When someone reiterates what you say in an effort to help others understand, do you claim that they are saying you are wrong if they misinterpret? I don't believe so, I just got the wrong message.

I'm not saying the gameplay was bad, the gameplay was good. All I meant was at the end of the game you feel like you have been through alot of shootouts, which would be hell for someone in real life. Again, I'm not saying the gameplay was hell as in bad. To be honest I'm tired of talking about this now. It was nice of you to apologise but let's just leave it at that. It's late and it's harder to pick at the facts of what we are talking about. Maybe I misunderstood you and maybe you misunderstood me, I don't know anymore. I probably did misunderstand what you said and likewise to an extent, so let's just leave it at that.

I would talk more about how I might have misunderstood you through no fault of your own, but you know I know it wasn't 1 person't fault (as in I'm not blaming you). Let's just call it a day ok?

Okay. That's fine with me. I think I misunderstood what you meant by the gameplay being like hell, and that's where we were confused. Anyway, no worries. I'm just glad you aren't angry with me! :P

I need to get the second one my self. I've got it for my Xbox, but I just can't seem able to play it with the controller, I think I got too used to the KM setup of a PC when I played the first one so many years ago.

I played the first one on both XBOX and PC, but MP2 on PC. Its an easier game, so the controls should be fine
