Obviously, we all know that Mega Man IX has been released now, and I just thought I'd ask all of you which your favourite game in this notoriously difficult series is.

I'm hopelessly pathetic at all of them to be honest, but I think that Mega Man IV is probably my favourite on the NES, unfortunately I haven't played any of the SNES editions of Mega Man, and so I hoped that by asking this question I may also receive some recommendations.

For some reason I've always liked 5 the most, but pretty much all of the games are equally good, except 1 and 6.

I think that Mega Man II, was the only one I was any good at...

Wasn't that the one which actually had a difficulty setting at the start?

That might explain why :P

I agree, but I'm not sure why I prefer 2 over all the others.

It'll be 10. That's why with 8 and 9 they took away the Roman Numerals on the title screen... to avoid confusion in case things got that high. Remember that in Japan, the "Rockman #" was always written like it is in MM9.

By the way, it's generally understood that putting a Roman Numeral after a Mega Man game is referring to the Game Boy games.

My personaly favorite in the series was Mega Man 3. Though I do reccomend all the original Mega Man games. I didn't think the series went as bad or askew as the X series did. I enjoyed all of the Mega Man series games, but the X series just went downhill fast after X4.

As for reccomendations, there are really only two games you need to get. The Mega Man Anniversary Collection and the Mega Man X Collection. With those two games you get Mega Mans 1-8, Mega Man X1-X6, and three bonus games. You can get both gaemes for around $20 so it's well worth it to pick them up.

I like all of the Mega Man games on the NES; 2, 3, and 6 are my favorites. And 9 is awesome.

Megaman 1 is actually my favorite.

I always had trouble getting into 1, maybe it was the 6 boss setup, I dunno I just wasn't too crazy about it.

The Anniversary Collection is available on PS2, 360, and GC. The X Collection is on PS2 and GC. You could have just searched GS for that. ;)

I'm glad I got both collections for my GC (although I have some of the NES and SNES original games). My favorite continues to be Mega Man X. Just plain fun, excellent controls, music and bosses. ~ de arimasu
