Metacritic is now ranking individual developers.

The Meta review board Metacritic has started to list individual game developers by game score rankings. Metacritic has listed prominent developers such as Peter Molyneux, Cliff Bleszinski and Ken Levine. The rankings are based upon scores from each developer's titles and taken in the aggregate. The list shows the highest title from the individual, the lowest score and then the average of all total games.

Metacritic, owned by GameFAQs, suggests any developers wishing to submit additions and changes to their accreditation can do so by submitting directly to GameFAQs.

Speaking to Gamasutra, several developers have voiced concern over the rankings, saying that only partial lists of games shipped have shown up thus far.

"Man, it's bad enough games are judged by Metacritic," stated one developer to Gamasutra. "Now I'm going to be, too?"

I think it's complete crap.

Hrm, seems harsh.

I guess they have nothing better to do with their time if they're going that route.

I think it's kind of cool.

That's interesting. Not sure if it's necessary, but it's interesting. Wonder if this will have any affect on the industry like the rest of the Metacritic scores have.

I can't eve use metacritic when i try to make review it's always gives me some error!

Heh it might be a step in the right direction and give some developers more "star power" which would in turn give them more decisional power over publishers, and we all know that publishers are evil. Or it might just be a useless gimmick on a site I hate. Time will tell

Now, for the first time, we're ranking game publishers, based on how well their games were reviewed last year.

I'm not thrilled by it since the numbers slapped onto the end of reviews are much less useful/informative than the reviews themselves but I'm not surprised since a lot of people (and companies) compare numerical scores with quality.

Maybe that's the next step? Can't imagine them forgoing that option for long.
