Most definitely. It's not canon, but it's a great handheld Metal Gear experience with a good story and great 2D gameplay. When compared with Metal Gear Solid on PS1, the only moves Snake is missing are the chokehold and throw.

Agreed, its a very solid (no pun intended) metal gear experience on the GB. I got it a while back and its great, makes me wish they would release a new 2D Metal Gear game.
It's worth playing for sure. The controls are really well done; it's amazing how Konami managed to get most of Snake's moves in there with the buttons they had to work with. MGS also has plenty of content, which is another great thing about the game.
It's a fun game, i'm not much of a stealth fan and i had fun with it. Even the training missions can get hours of play just for the best time. It can be a bit unforgiving at times.
Metal Gear Solid on the GBC is kind of strange. It's like a rewrite of the PS1 MGS game. While it's not as good, the game is a very well made GBC game. You could do a lot worse if you really want an old GBC game. Of course if it's just MGS you're after, there are better options. So if you're a fan of the MGS series, then definately go for it. If you're not too familiar with the series, you could get a better introduction. Like the original PS1 version.
