Hi guys.

Sorry for this type of thread again, I saw that there is like hundreds of them on internet. Now I'm not here to ask in what order should I play them, but what games should I play?

I have never played a single MGS game except the first one on the NES a looong time ago so I forgot everything.

Anyway, after looking at some recent gameplay videos from the newest MGS Phantom pain I became interested in these series.

So what games should I play to know the full story of these series...

I read on some forums that a lot of people reccomened this way to complete the timeline

@i-rock-socks: You didn't understand my question...

I didn't ask you in which order should I play the games but do I need to play every single metal gear game that came out, becouse I read a lot on some forums that only some of them are important for the storyline...

To understand the story for MGS5, you need to play MGS3 and Peacewalker.

If you want the FULL story of the entire series, then you need to play all of them except the ones before MGS1.

Sure

MGS, MGS2, and MGS4 are Solid Snakes storyline (future trilogy)

MGS3, PW, and MGS5 are Big Bosses story line (prequel trilogy)

MGS5 will likely start connecting to MGS1, so it's probably best to play them all, but I would understand if you didn't want to play all of em.

The NES version was terrible. The original MSX2 version was good but was only released in Japan.

@toast_burner: I will get them both on the emulator than and try to complete them, and if I find them too difficult becouse of the controls I will just take a look at the youtube walkthrough.

Thank you guys, I think I finnallly unterstand it now.

I will complete them in this order

1.Metal Gear (old one for Nintendo NES)

2.Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake

3.Metal Gear Solid 1( for PS1)

4.Metal Gear Solid 2(for PS2)

5.Metal Gear Solid 3(for PS2)

6.Metal Gear Solid 4(for PS3)

7.Metal Gear Solid PeaceWalker

8.Metal Gear Solid Rising Revengeance

9.Metal Gear Solid V(5) Ground Zeroes

10.Metal Gear Solid V(5) Phantom Pain

I heard that the mgs rising revengeance is not that important to the story but i will still complete it :)

The original Metal Gear isn't really worth playing. It really hasn't aged well. Metal Gear 2 is pretty good, but you don't need to play it at all to understand anything in MGS.
