One thing about MMOs that has spoiled me is updates.
If I find a bug in one of my non-mmo games, it usually just stays there forever. But bugs in MMOs tend to get fixed. And game balancing is always an ongoing process in MMOs, where as in non-mmo games nothing is ever changed.
There are exceptions, of course. Especially in the PC realm of gaming. But for the most part, developers release a game and then move on to the next project. I mean, compare World of Warcraft to... let's say Street Fighter 4. I have both on the PC, and I enjoy them a lot. WoW gets updates all the time. Bugs fixed, new content, etc. The most updates I can hope for for SF4 are new costumes I can buy.
Of course it all comes down to cash. WoW needs to keep updating to keep people forking over that $15 a month, where as Capcom gets no money for updating SF4 (which is why all it's updates are being launched the a stand alone expansion, Super Street Fighter 4).
This is why I'm spoiled by MMOs. I'm constantly teased with updates and new content and I eat it up. My MMO is a constantly evolving game, where as my other games are simply "single serving" doses of entertainment. Eventually I'll get bored of WoW and move on (just as I moved on from Ultima Online and Everquest). But man, it's really fun having a game that grows over time instead of staying the same for all eternity.
