Stephen Totilo is reporting that head tracking is now possible with the PS3, and all you need is the Playstation Eye, and a face. Lucky for me I have both. :P He's got a video of it in action at his blog.

Disgaea 3 will be coming stateside in August. I've never played the series, but I've always meant to.

I'm fairly sure there has been more PS3 news in the last 2 days than there was for all of 2007. That might be an exageration, but good gollies, the floodgates have opened.

The PS3 has a game that features exploding peglegged penguins. As far as I'm concerned, that moves Sony ahead by just a tad in the console race.

The eye thing is neat and all, but I'd like to see a notable game make a serious attempt at using it. Peripherals like this never get used because developers never really put much effort or resources in a game that uses what's seen as a gimmick.

Disgaea 3 looks like it could have been a PS2 game or even a Wii game.

Disgaea 3 looks cool (anyone shocked and horrified by the fact the graphics aren't cutting edge hasn't been paying attention to NIS's work) and the head tracking tech sounds interesting, though I am hard pressed to think of a good example of how it could be used in-game.

They are probably gonna get docked review points for not utitlizing the next-gen platform better...But critics don't sell games with a track record like Disagaea

I tried out the head tracking stuff at the GDC. The main draw against it is that it's not as good at tracking distance from the TV as, say, the one rigging that guy did with the Wii remote, or even other technologies that I came across on the conference floor (some of which were incredibly responsive, and required no processing on the part of the PC using it).

It's still a nifty tech, the way it works. I preferred the camera rig where you draw custom tanks on paper, then use them in game, though.

I'm so jealous of you right now. I wish I had marketable skills that would give me an excuse to attend GDC.

I'm well aware that NIS games don't take full advantage of system they're on. I'm cool with that. I think NIS does some cool stuff, even if it's not technologically impressive.

But a niche game on a system that's far less popular doesn't seem like a good idea. But Japanese sales seem to be pretty good, so I'll wait and see what happens once it comes out in North America.
