Modern games like Mario 64

So, my girlfriend says she's not against video games, but she's very particular and is a little overwhelmed by modern games. Her favourite game was Mario 64. I have a PS4 and Xbox One, so I'm looking for recommendations on modern games similar in style to Mario 64 that she might enjoy!

@skitzo29: I meant that your not likely going to find anything remotely similar to Mario 64 on the two systems you have certainly not on an XBOX console. Your best bet is to get a Wii U which has Mario games on it. Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are 3d Mario games in the vein of Mario 64.

There´s nothing similar in style like Mario 64 in either system.

Indie Games

I don't think he was trying to be a smart ass. It's just that there aren't a ton of games exactly like Mario (many side scrollers are more shooting or combat oriented than platforming) but the WiiU console is pretty cheap and Nintendo literally re-hashed their Mario franchise several times over with each console generation they release. If you get a WiiU, you can literally just play the latest installments of Mario, of which there are several on that platform.

Rayman is a game franchise I can think of that's kind of similar and still has current installments. Earthworm Jim was great if you don't mind something a bit older. Those are more like the old school side scrollers, though. Banjo Kazooie was kind of similar to Mario 64. Not sure about the platform, though. I think the last one was 360 and I have no idea if it's on the Xbox One BC list.

Unfortunately 3d platformers are a virtually dead genre. It is weird because 2d platformers have seen a huge resurgence but 3d platformers are near extinct, even if you look at the indie scene. Having said that ratchet and clank is probably the closest thing to mario you will get on those consoles.

Do you have a PC? There are probably more choices on PC than either of the consoles you own and you will not need a high end system to run them.
