I watched the xbox live downloadable event on my xbox , but for as far as I know Fallout 4 hasn't been discussed (or I skipped over it) and I just found out it will be a function. THat's huge. I have not got a good gamer PC/ Laptop. I have a laptop that can run Skryim perfectly with mods but I don't think it;ll run Fallout 4 (Geforce 845 , not gonna happen ;p) so I had to buy it on my xbox one which will be more boring once I see all the mods they're getting on the PC (the grass is always greener on the other side eh). But modding on xbox is a huuuge difference , and it actually makes me now eager to buy the game (more of an Elder Scrolls fan , you can love both but I never really tried).

However , my question is: Do you guys think they somehow managed to make it possible to actualy mod textures and stuff? I'm talking body replacers (We all know which ones we are going to get ;3) and armour replacers and animations and stuff like that or do you think it'll be overhyped and it will just turn out to be some regular house and quest mods , dissapointing us in the long run.

It's only coming on Xbox One first. PS4 will get mod support later on.

Well whatever they turn out to be I think this is very cool news. It's better to have something then nothing.

You could mod textutes in Unreal Tournament III on PS3 (people forget this was real?), so I don't see why the X1 can't with Fallout4.

It'll probably be heavily curated.

Modding in Bethesda games on the PC rely havily on alot of 3rd party applications to do some of the more interesting and cool things (ENB, Script Extenders, Patchers and other tools), so I'd imagine it would be limited to a certain mods unless Bethesda or MS implement things to not depend on them out of the box. But mods like texture, armour and animation replacers are actually one of the most simple mods you can implement, it's really only a matter of whether or not the hardware can handle it, especially if you're installing a texture replacer intended to up the resolution, instead of just changing the art asset into something better (which I'd imagine be the end result - most modders give performance options to content anyway).

Adding Armour, Voiced NPCs, Quests, Locations, buildings and maybe some spells are all pretty possible without any 3rd party tools and should easily work on console. But some of the best mods around that improve immersion, gameplay, AI etc.

I'm not surprised if the mods on Xbox will turn out better or easier to work with (note :Not surprised but I don't expect there will be much difference. However Microsoft is the world's best computer expert so if anyone could do this it would be them)

-------------------------------------

But this opens so many doors. Mods for Minecraft? Witcher 3? Freaking add-ons for ESO (which improve the PvP so much on PC). I can see this modding taking off better than VR and Hololens would.

All of this.

You'll probably see basic quest mods and the like, but to get the full mod experience, you'll need the PC version. At the very least, expect to have much lower limits on how many mods can be active at once.

Most of the mods that make it to the console versions will likely be armor/clothing mods because that just makes up the majority of mods in general and they will translate easily. The only exception is when those mods use custom physics or 4k textures (though modders often provide lower res textures).

A lot really rides on what kind of tools Bethesda provides to modders. The less modders need to use tools created by other modders like script extenders, the more mods that will be compatible with the console versions. But I doubt you'll ever see ENB or environment/weather overhauls because they're intended for people with rigs that are well above the recommended specs. Similarly, you won't see mods that increase the number of enemies on screen...basically anything that requires increased performance is likely not going to be available on consoles.

I'm really curious if there will be file size limits, given the way PSN and XBL work. Additionally, how will they police adult content on consoles?

i wonder if the graphic mods will be any good, most on the pc really eat up a lot of vram and the consoles have none to spare.
