Just now, I had the most AMAZING game experience ever. This has never happened before, and I am not sure if I can explain it properly, but, I will. I bought Super Mario Galaxy 2 a while ago and put it on a pile because I had to finish a few games first. So today I get to it. I have played a few hours and cannot put it down. This game actually made me smile. I never have smiled from a game. Things happen in this game that make you genuinely smile! Also, this will sound stupid, but, while playing, some creature waved at me, and I waved back! It was a natural reaction. This game is so colourful and PERFECTLY designed and crazy that you almost want to cry playing it. You think to yourself, "There is a God!". I will never be able to explain how good this game is, but, I can not believe a human brain was capable of designing so much fun in one game. The colours, design and especially music invade your body and pull you into a bizzare world. There are so many game mechanics and things happening, yet, it is so simple to understand. Also, the Wiimote adds an extrodinary depth to the game. It feels so natural and dream-like, you want to just live in this world. The game is also extremely hard after a while, but, because of the sheer fun, you don't care. Anyway, has anyone EVER had a similar experience with any other game? Has anyone felt things that they hadn't in a game before, or, had some type of emotional experience? What game was it and what part of the game? PS - I kind felt similar in Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but this game is on a whole new level. PSS - Do yourself a favour and play this game. If you have no Wii, then buy one just for this game. Seriously, it is on such a different level to any other game I have played, I can't even explain it. If you don't believe me, read Gamespot's review on it...

Hmm..

I'll say Dead Rising. Just because I was so stoked when I first played it. The moment I realized that this game lets you kill zombies with any object you could find in the mall. Made me just step back and say woa... woa.... woah..

Oh yeah and that one time I played GTa Vice City where I just left the game with my guy in a car parked in some random sidewalk. When I came back with my cheesy puffs I saw my guy with a random civilian in the car moving up and down. Then I was like woah... woa... WOAH!

The one that springs to mind is Killer7. The whole game. It's just so weird, unique, shocking, and visually appealing. I loved it. Even if you don't like the game, it's an unforgettable one.

Another from my younger days is OOT. When I beat the game, I reflected on everything I went through as was just like amazed at the memorable experience I had with the characters, the diverse enviornments, the awesome puzzle. This was when I didn't know much about gaming. I wasn't hardcore like I am today. It was one of the first games I played so it made a huge impact on me.

I got really really really stoned (in Amsterdam where weed is legal, sorry to **cough cough*** clarify, just to avoid any TOS issues), and so I turned off the lights, cranked up the surround sound, and played Siren Blood Curse all night, man that game terrified me, and when the sun came out I went outside for a cigarette and I was pale white and shaking with adrenaline and my neighbor was like "what happened" and I was like "I played like the best game ever, terrified the crap out of me, but it was fun", similar things happened with Dead Space and Fatal Frame trilogy, and Condemned 2, I really love survival horror played in the best way possible

I remember the first time I played GTA III, I thought I was busy dreaming because it felt so unreal being able to explore a whole damned city at that time. I also agree with lamprey, theres nothing like having your nerves wrecked after a good night of horror gaming. But the best of all was probably Okami, the ending pretty much had me in tears.

Ico. Most people seem to prefer Shadow of the Colossus, but I'd give the edge to Ico. I just felt more captivated.

Morrowind was one of those games that really gave me a truly AMAZING experience.

I've played alot of good games, but honestly its only ever so often that a game comes along, and really gives you a great experience.

Banjo Kazooie was another game that just made me happy when I played it.

Agreed. Probably the best plot, including the (disturbing) cutscenes, I've ever seen in a game. Great atmosphere and incredible style, especially the empty Dominican village.

Just thinking about this topic made me realize just how many amazing games there are out there. Definitely agree that MGS4 is one of the top ones out there. The graphics, the gameplay, the characters, are all just on such a higher level than other games out there. It's weird and thought provoking and fun all at the same time. and of course, you can't have a topic like this without mentioning Shadow of the Colossus. That game made you feel for the characters in a way that few other games can even come close too. Considering that the characters in the game were giant monsters, that is quite a feat. I felt sorry for the colossi and questioned every action my character took in that game . It's amazing when a game can make you feel and be so thought provoking and be so much fun all at the same time. since someone else mentioned Blood Curse, I gotta give a shout out to Siren (PS2 one). That game definitely had an effective way of sucking you into the game world. Survival horror games done right can't be beat for giving the player a thrill ride feeling. As for Killer7, I hated that game, but the poster who mentioned it is correct, it was definitely a very memorable experience. It was too much style and not enough substance for my taste, but it was definitely a bizarre experience.

In no particular order,

1. Coming out of the escape pod onto Halo in Halo:CE,

2. Exploring the first world in Super Mario 64,

3. Flying around in the VTOL jet in Vice City.

Half-life 2. It had an amazing beginning sequence with absolutely breathtaking environments. The game continues to get more and more interesting while still maintaining the awe factor with the level design, AI, physics, weaponry and gameplay. I loved it through and through. It honestly did give me the best gaming experience.

I had a pretty amazing experience the first time I played Thief 2. I was so totally immersed into the game that well.. yeah.. I didn't come out alive D: (lulwut)
Also, the sheer amount of joy and fun I had with Saints Row 2 simply can not compare to any other game I've ever played. The whole experience just made me feel so good and energetic and.. blah! i just loved it ^^
