Most Difficult Games in this century?

i think god of war 3 and dark souls 2 are one of the most difficult video-games ever...

And i disagree there isent any game that is truly hard, Dark Souls is all about pattern recognition and same with II. God of War is like carebear 2.0.

I'm not particularly good at games and I can safely say that no God of War game ranks among the most difficult games.

Gunlord, Mega Man Zero series (at least for S ranking), Thunder Force VI, Raiden IV, DoDonPachi Resurrection, a bunch of other Dreamcast shmups like Ikaruga, Giga Wing 2, Sturmwind, etc.

I haven't played it yet, but 1001 spikes looks pretty hard.

God of war hard...jesus please. Try Catherine, the game had to be patched months after release with a "very easy" difficulty because even the 'easy mode" had players in tears. And anyone looking for another challenge, try playing Dead space 2 on the hardest difficulty, the 15 hour game only gives you 3 chances to save your game, and whenever you die you return to your last save....where talking hours here.

Theres a difference between Unforgiving and Hard... But in Dead Space's case its just wasting the player's time.

But what about the previous century?

I think masocore games like I Wanna Be The Guy are only games that qualify for that title given that they literally kill you every few steps through all manner of dirty tricks. Everything else is like a cakewalk by comparison.

Speaking of Which, I played Ninja Gaiden 2 and 3 (demos) so I still don't get what people don't like about 3....

I think Dark Souls is the hardest game Ive played in a while, but even then, once you know what youre doing it's not that hard. It seems Dark Souls 2 is much easier in comparison, though.

well life protection rings made it a lot easier.
