I was inspired by the "most emotional game you've ever played" thread and decided to do this on a series that's, while unfortunately not that great now, still has its moments in its franchise's history. Some of my favorite moments that stirred me emotionaly...
In Final Fantasy IV, when Cecil finally becomes a Paladin or when he reunites with Rosa with Kain looking on, feeling depressed when he isn't able to win her over. Or how about the many moments in Final Fantasy IX, Vivi in particular, when you find out more about his past? Of course, while it didn't make me cry whatsoever, it was heart-breaking to see Aeris die at the hands of Sephiroth. Or what about in Final Fantasy VI, when you finally hear about the backstories of a few characters or see what they go through, like Locke when he feels like it was his fault for what happened to his love, Rachel, or Cyan when he sees his entire kingdom be destroyed by poison from that evil SOB known as Kefka, who, in my opinion, is the best villian to ever grace a Final Fantasy title.
These are just some of the few examples I can think of when it comes to Final Fantasy.
