Most emotional moment in a Final Fantasy game? (spoilers within!)

I was inspired by the "most emotional game you've ever played" thread and decided to do this on a series that's, while unfortunately not that great now, still has its moments in its franchise's history. Some of my favorite moments that stirred me emotionaly...

[spoiler] In Final Fantasy IV, when Cecil finally becomes a Paladin or when he reunites with Rosa with Kain looking on, feeling depressed when he isn't able to win her over. Or how about the many moments in Final Fantasy IX, Vivi in particular, when you find out more about his past? Of course, while it didn't make me cry whatsoever, it was heart-breaking to see Aeris die at the hands of Sephiroth. Or what about in Final Fantasy VI, when you finally hear about the backstories of a few characters or see what they go through, like Locke when he feels like it was his fault for what happened to his love, Rachel, or Cyan when he sees his entire kingdom be destroyed by poison from that evil SOB known as Kefka, who, in my opinion, is the best villian to ever grace a Final Fantasy title. These are just some of the few examples I can think of when it comes to Final Fantasy.

The moments you mentioned are pretty powerful stuff, but none I'd choose for my most emotional moment in the series (the Final Fantasy series consists of eleven numbered entries, FF 1-10 and 12, along with side games like Final Fantasy Tactics).

It's been many a year since I've last played the Final Fantasy games so I can't recall what I would consider the most emotional moment though. FF 5 has one scene, FF 6 has plenty, FF 8 has a particular scene, FF 10 has some as well... I've always thought to replay the series but have such an immense backlog as is without adding replaying games to the list.

[spoiler] my favorite moment is when Yuna went to hug Tidus at the end of FF10 but she went right thru him because he was already disappearing :cry: it was so sad! I also loved when Zidane went back to Dagger at the end of FF9. it wasn't as good as Yuna/Tidus though. :P [/spoiler]

The ending to FF VII Crisis core...

[spoiler] You really feel for Zack on how much he's been through and in the end with him carrying Cloud really impacts that. Seeing all those memories he had and they start to slowly disappear from his memory as he weakens and lastly his love Aerith trying to hold on to her, trying not to forget... then gone. So depressing. [/spoiler]

FFVIII, the ending. Confusing but I think you're meant to find your own meaning out of it.
