Most user reviews on Metacritic are pathetic!

Looking through a few games on metacritic today, I just got really pissed of the stupidity of some people. Games getting 0/10 because the 'reviewer' (not really a reviewer, more like 'troll')hated one aspect of the entire game. WTF!? :evil:

Other people then give games 10/10 after playing them for about 1 hour! Seriously like, 1 hour!?

I think user scores should be completely removed from that site, they give a VERY false judgement of a game. Pretty much no game in existence deserves to get a 0, and not many deserve a 10 either.

This is why user reviews are largely worthless. That is, the ones written by 10-year-olds who don't understand the concepts of 'moderation' and 'fairness' and think the score should mean 'how I feel about this game right now'. TentacleMayor

Even people on GS are guilty of this. I know someone who rated Mass Effect 3 10/10 after 6 hours playtime, which he actually thought was alot! I would have laughed if I wasn't engulfed in rage.

Yeah, user reviews are pointless. I find funny when people say professional reviews areworthless because the reviewer is often biasedwhen user reviews are the most biased thing ever. Most havent even played the game and jump on the hating bandwaggon.

examples:

Mass Effect 3 meta user score (PS3): 3.6 (X360): 4.9 (PC): 3.6

Dragon Age II meta user score (PS3): 3.9 (X360): 4.2 (PC): 4.3

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim meta user score (PS3): 5.4

I mean, SERIOUSLY???

I know these games have flaws and are somewhat disappointments to their respective "fans" but giving them such low score is just plain retarded

95% of user reviews are garbage. And that's coming from someone who actually writes user reviews.

Except not. A user can give a low score to a game on a whim, a reviewer has a compromise with his job and readers to properly judge a game. He has a larger knowledge about gaming in general than most gamers out there, and he most likely knows how to write concisely. You might even disagree with a review's score, but they generally describe the aspects of a game as they are.

Exactly the same can be said about this site. If a load of people are annoyed by the hype of a particular game then they'll give it a 1/10 despite never playing it. Look at the average user score for MW3 on both consoles, the average rating is so low because people just hate the popularity so give it an extremely low rating with absolutely no sensible reasoning to back it up.

At least they've probably played it on the console they're reviewing it for, which is more than a lot of "professional" reviewers can say.

It's pretty ridiculous.It can be tough to find a good review on there.
