As you all know as gamers, usually, movie games suck the big one! But, once in a blue moon, a movie game that doesn't suck pops up. What is such a title?

Oh yeah. That's like one of the best games of all time, and it's a movie inspired game!

Goldeneye 64, Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, and KOTOR are the ones that come to mind first.

Riddick on the xbox?Black_Knight_00

yeah. that game kicked ass. most people say that Doom 3 ushered in next-gen graphics, but IIRC Riddick came out before D3 and had graphics that were about on par with D3.

Many of the Star Wars games are great.
Also, I particularly liked The Godfather: Blackhand Edition (but the reviewers didn't, apparently).

Godfather, Goldeneye, Riddick(thought this game was going to suck, and wow was I blow away when I played it), Scarface.

I don't know if we can count Riddick though, or is it just games that are movies? Or games that were inspired by movies?

Because if we are just talking about games that also have movies, then I'm going to say Resident Evil as well. I love Mira Jovocovich (she's so hot)

lol, I meant 'Riddick on the xbox!' (I put a question mark where I shouldn't have) That game was so good and I only just now found out on the wikipedia that it didn't use the Doom 3 engine. Cool.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay is easily one of the best. It is actually better than the movies to put it bluntly. Its use of the Riddick IP is stunning and even though it would help to understand the Riddick character from the movies before playing (just so you can get more into the universe itself), Starbreeze and Vin Diesel himself, did such a good job portraying Riddick in the game, you don't actually need to.

There are not many games like EFBB, it combines First Person Shooter, RPG, Action-Adventure, Stealth and First Person Fighting elements all into the same game. It is quite the feat if I do say so myself seeing as how Starbreeze did it so well.

Movie games can be very good. The trick is how you decide to develop them. Most movie games are under the pressure of being user friendly and being released the same day as the movie. Also, since most of the money goes into liscensing, there isn't much left to go into the actual game.

All the good games you guys are naming (Goldeneye 007, KOTOR, The Warriors, The Thing, Chronicles of Riddick, The Godfather, Scarface, etc) are either not based directly on the movie, or were made long after the movie was released, so there was significantly less pressure. This also means that the developer is making the game because they actually enjoyed the movie, not because the boss came in and said "Drop what you're doing, we have to cash in on this, NOW". For a perfect example, look how bad "Enter the Matrix" was, and look how much better "The Path of Neo" turned out.

The only real exception to this rule is the Spider-Man movie games, but that's only because Activision and Treyarch have been making Spider-Man games since before the first movie, so they already knew what they were doing. I also enjoyed The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King by EA for the short time I had it, but I would never consider buying it.

The point is: Don't buy a game just because you like the movie/liscense. The quality of the latter has little bearing on the quality of the former.

That was actually the first movie licensed game that I remember being any good. As a matter of fact I think that may have been the only one that was any good for about the next 10 years.

That's my pick. The movie was awful, but the game was great.

Better then the movie even. I watched the movie after playing the game and I thought it was lame.
