My Beef With Kingdom Hearts

Alrighty, so I have an Xbox360, ps2, ps3, nds lite. I've been playing kingdom hearts since it first came out, so I was able to play most of the games... except now they have Birth By Sleep on the psp, and a new game dream drop distance coming out for the 3ds... why on earth are they putting this series on multiple platforms? First ps2, then gba/ds, then psp, then soon the 3ds. I'm a huge fan, but I feel like I'm not going to get the most out of the series because I'm not going to run out and buy a psp and then upgrade my ds to a 3ds. I've seen trailers, clips and my friend owns birth by sleep and it looks amazing... I'm missing out on a lot here... What are your thoughts on this?

I love Kingdom Hearts aswell, but Square Enix is just trying to expand to all the different type of gamers out there. It's not like this is there time by bringing 358/2 Days or Re:Coded to the DS or Birth by Sleep to the PSP, or Kingdom Hearts 3D to the 3DS. If you remember when Kingdom Hearts 1&2 was being brought out so was Chain of Memories for the Gameboy Advanced.

It sounds to me that you're not upset overall with Square Enix expanding to all these different devices. It sounds like your more upset that you wont have the chance to play 'em because you don't want to upgrade. No offense of course.

I mean I find it a little just a little annoying but I respect what Square Enix is trying to do by bringing all gamers into KH.

from 1 kh fan to another i hate to tell you this but theres another hanndheld kh game and its birth by sleep 2. if you need proof its in the secret endig to birth by sleep finnal mix ughhhh i never thought the day wouldhappen whe i wantedless games of kingdom hearts

Certainly; recent games like Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, Birth By Sleep, Monster Hunter, and all of Square Enix' future releases make sense in Japan, but it's also indicative of where the Japanese industry in general has ended up in the last few years. They can't focus on any particular system that will give them worldwide success... though I really don't see how a Wii port would be that expensive or hard, unlike a PS3 port.MAILER_DAEMON

It shows you how little respect they have for the series, the way they are tossing out spin-offs without considering that maybe fans would like to see a true sequel (called... Get this- KINGDOM HEARTS 3) on the PS3. It's a matter of time before they announce Kingdom Hearts: Krazy Kinect Memories Forever, or some junk, in which you use Kinect to help Sora go about his everyday between the events of KH2 and KH3.

We probably would have seen Kingdom Hearts 3 by now if the main development team behind that series wasn't so busy with Final Fantasy XIII Versus. I imagine that's why Square's had another team churn out these handheld titles: to keep the series in the public eye to a certain extent and to keep fans relatively satisfied.

I completely see where youare coming from, and upgrading is expensive, and you're right, I don't want to upgrade. I just dont understand why they put the MAIN components of thestory on so many different consoles. I would be perfectly fine if they stayed on the PSP and used that by itself to expand the game, but to expect gamers to actually go out and buy all these different consoles (be them handheld or not) is a little rough. At the very least they should make these games playable on the psn network (the Birth by Sleep Game)off your ps3 or atleast haveit ported to the ds, idc if it's crappier, just gimme the story! I understand the 3ds thing IF andONLY IF they kept the games that are off of the main 1, 2 and soon-the-be-3, ALL on the ds, but since they didn't I'm a little annoyed that just to play the entire story i would need a ps2, soon-to-be-ps3 (for the third), a ds, a psp and a 3ds. The only reason I'm listing the 3ds separate from the ds, is because I would have to drop 250 for a friggen handheld... as a college gamer, thats asking an awful lot.

I've noticed some companies really don't like hacks. I remember when Half Life 2 was hacked before the release date, Valve set the release further back.

Agreed. I just pretend they don't exist. They better not expect people to know anything from the handheld titles to understand certain things in KH3... Unless that is released on the PSP2 or something.

okay iam playing the devil's advocate here by saying thats its a good thing the kingdom hearts series is expanding to different consoles and that by introducing the title to different platforms it gives us different perspectives of gaming. But come on you have a limited amount of butter how thin are you willing to spread it square? i've been waiting for ages and im not complaining because i know everyone here is in the same situation, we have to wait for good things to happen but come on, we've been promised versus for a couple of years now, but still we have nothing. all this side stories in the kingdom hearts title are just making the game a hell of a lot more confusing, also a lot of people are missing out on games on different consoles, i've blown a lot of money on my psp, my DS both consoles i bought solely for this game, and its the only game i have on the system. so please square were hoping for atleast some word for a third kingdom hearts i know 3D is supposed to be the bridge that gaps 2 and 3 but how long are we going to have to wait for that well i hope things will be clearer in the E3 as to were Tetsuya is wanting to go with the series hopefully good news soon.
