Has she ever played games before? Maybe if you buy a Wii and make her play it she will change her mind.
By the way your Internet is fast.
You generally have to be an adult in order to afford a ps3.
And if you have enough money for a ps3 and you are an adult, you have to consider what else you could do with that money, if it would be better spent improving your transportation device, or getting ahead on rent / mortgages, using that money for groceries or clothes that you might need, or things that your girlfriend/ wife/ kids/ pets may need.
Obviously if everything in your life is provided for and you still want to get a ps3 than go for it.
As far as games content being for kids, I feel that most games can be fun for people of any age. My mom is nearing 60 and she plays lots of video card games, majjong, yahtzee, risk and things of that sort all the time. She had a blast playing wii sports with me as well.

well im going to college this year so a lot of that stuff is already paid for and taken care of. i dont have to worry about a car since they dont allow one the first year. food i can just get from the cafeteria. i just need to make sure i have enough money to pay for whatever scholarships and my parents dont pay for for next semester. that shouldnt be to much. id say its financially safe for me to buy one. the point is not the money the point is is it really worth it?
Although I know girl gamers exist, I've never met one and most of the women I've ever known all seem to equate video games with childrens activities.
I'm sure your moms would faint if she knew that not only do grown menmake video games, some get payed to play them.
i tired to get her to play but she says she isnt in to that stuff.Zero5000X
It's probably for the best. I mean do you really want your mom owning you on VF5?:P
you are college age. tell your mom to walk around a dorm and see how many people have game systems setup

It happend to meI would ask her if she thinks movies are for "kids" as well. Or what about television shows? Music? Books? All other forms of entertainment. Are those for kids too?
And then, after she's done thinking about that, I would make the comment that most people who buy games are between the ages of 18 and 34. 28 being the average age of most gamers. Those are just the facts, and if she disagrees with them then she can live her live being ignorant of what is really happening in the real world.
