My fav pass time is to play video games. But while playing I always think to create games of my own choice. At this moment of my life, I need to think about my career also. Is there any option where I can assimilate my pass time as my career? Kindly suggest.

There are many avenues you could go down. You could be a designer, programmer, writer... The best thing to do now would be to decide what part of games you are most interested in. Have you tried programming? Do you enjoy art or 3d modeling? There are plenty of tools out there for people to learn on their own what it takes to make a game.

P.S. If you are into 3d modeling, there's a program called blender that's free and will help you get started. Just read the instructions and faqs or you'll likely get buried under its complexity.

I'm glad to see other people thinking about going into game design. I want to go down to Full Sail down in Florida.

To explore more in programming, it's better to go with particular degree in this so that you can get complete knowledge of designing as well as programming part.

I have considered being a game designer, but when i look at it, im not really qualified as I really don't know the process besides a few edits in Sim 2, some coding for Marathon and Level Design in a few games, Im pretty much strictly a gaming Story Teller.

edit: and being certified in Photoshop ain't getting me anywhere, either.

Make sure your passion for video games extends to a desire to create them. I love gaming, but I wouldn't want to do it as a career in any way and I think it would make gaming less fun since it's now a job and not a hobby.

After that figure out particularly how and where you want to spend your time in the gaming industry. Then take out a loan and go to college or join a branch of the military and enjoy the fruit that is the GI bill to pay for college. Make sure to put my name down on your referrals list at your recruiters office so I get a $2k bonus and promotion. :P jk.

Playing games, is a lot different from making games, trust me. In my first year of University, one of my modules was 3d game design and it wasn't much fun. But if you really want to get started, then do what RiseAgainst12 said, and study it at college or University. Just make sure that it's really what you want to do though.
