If true, it's probably because a lot of people are looking to get rid of their Wiis.

People who still own N64s at this point typically aren't looking to sell them. Meanwhile, there are a shit-ton of Wiis out there. The Wii's generation is ending and it's also a console that has a reputation as a "dust gatherer" once people get bored of Wii Sports and whatnot. I'm guessing there are a lot of people who see their Wii and think, "I've only played this thing once in the past year so I might as well ebay it"

I'll be selling my N64, and I noticed its going at the same price as Wii. It's not like the N64 is rare or anything, but it's literally a few bucks cheaper than a Wii console. Why is that? I'm thinking of getting a Wii now from my n64.

People getting rid of their Wii systems, and now the Wii U is out, people looking for a Nintendo console should get that one instead.

I've definitely noticed a lot more Wii and Wii games at thrift and second hand stores I visit. With the WiiU out and the PS4 and new XBOX around the corner, people are making room for the new consoles. I imagine within 2-years you'll be able to pick up a Wii for no more than $20, and with only a few exceptions, games will likely be worth $10 at most. It'll be a good time to collect on the console for sure, that's what I'm holding out for.

Also Wii-U can play Wii games so a lot of people upgrading to Wii-U are selling theirs after transferring their Wiiware, VC, etc games. Once the Wii-U picks up in sales I expect the price of the Wii to drop even more.

Hmm I still have my N64 And my Wii sitting beside each other, but neither of them gets used much. Maybe I should think about selling them too?

I could never sell mine, too many games not on the Virtua Console.

Makes sense. I'll probably save the money from my N64 for a Wii U if I still go along and get another Nintendo console.

I see N64s every so often at thrift stores and flea markets for around that price. I'd say on average though I see them for around $30. I never have seen a Wii for $10 though. I saw one at a garage sale last fall for $20, but that's the cheapest one I've seen.

Sounds about right!  Like everyone has said there are a ton of Wiis out there, the massive supply alone would drive price down.  Once you combine that with the decreased demand over time you are straight up asking for a cheap legacy console!

I'm planning on getting a "jungle green" version soon because that's what my cousins had and I'd like the same color to relive those memories. Finding one with all correct lid/cover thing still on, expansion pack, cables. and decent controllers is tough and when you do find one like that they go for $80+

thats not new, Ive seen piles of Wii consoles and accessories in 2nd hand shops for the past 2 years , and prices weren't crazy either , not down to N64 levels, but very, very low for what was , on paper a current gen system.

I was thinking of picking up a Wii , but that depends on how many games I would want to play on it (in addition to the Gamecube games I already have)

Nintendo 64 didn't really sell all that well either. It's no failure, but you'd be hard press to find one in some places.

Yeah, the alternate color N64 consoles and controllers typically sell for double of what a regular N64 goes for. Then there's the Gold N64 and the Pikachu N64 which are usually $100+

The Wii is a very unwanted console. So many people wanting to get rid of them and nobody wanting to buy them.

Theres so many Wii's and PS2's out there, I don't see them bringing big money until I'm an old man.
